so, i have a tough question. both of these boards were bought of amazon as the same product from the same seller. i use them because they are opto-isolated. they have been trouble shot to conclude the the input voltage rails/connections are the same as well as the path/components that light the led. the one on the left with the large optocouplers will illuminate dimly and not energize a solenoid. the one on the right is bright and works. i have made several hundred of these setups over the years and know there voltage, diodes, etc are right. it is the difference between these boards. i just bought a batch of ten that were pictured and the large ones arrived. i think i bought ten and when i get an answer i will be sure to share it with all. otherwise i will have to do a custom pcb or something as i have had trouble with 2 of three mosfet boards that i wanted to try. the pic is big so i wont upload another at the moment, just know that the little red led next to the optocopler comes on, but not the "active" led.

Not sure what you're using for an input voltage but the board in the picture looks to be good for 48V input.

 

The input limiting resistors on the board read 472 = 4700ohms

 

As a point of reference a 24V input would use 222 resistors, 2200 ohms

 

On my original Booster Boards that I sold 10 years ago I used to use 330 ohms for 3.3V input, 560 ohms for 5V input, and 1K for 12V input.

 

Of course I stopped making them because I wasn't going to compete with the price of Chinese imports.  I guess you get what you pay for.

the pinscape outputs 3.3v and the odd thing is the dimly lit led that should be bright red. i just got another batch to see if they had the same large optocouplers and they do even though the pics on amazon show the small ones.

good eye by the way. if you notice the smaller ones have a 471, presumably 470 ohms then?i wouldnt have thought of that personally since the pinscape can only output mA already.

yup, they'd be 470 which is a sort of compromise that allows 3.3, 5, and 12v operation (although the 12v is hard on the leds inside the optos so lifespan is likely reduced.)

wow man, spot on. i removed the surface mount and replaced it, and bingo it works! thanks a million i would have never thought of that since the klz puts out so little current anyways. do you have a tip jar anywhere?
