Could someone please help me.  I've spent 3 grueling days and have re-installed all software per Terry Reds video, and have watched all vids on teensy led install.  I have updated my oak micros PAL, and done all steps per Major Frenchy's video for Global config, and cabinet file.  All leds tested great with teensy test and on startup, but will NOT work with VP or FP.  I'll post log and files below.  Please forgive me first build but working out the kinks.  WOW....tired and frustrated after many hours of the build!!  Thank you ahead of time I really appreciate this site, wouldn't have made it this far without Terry and the rest!!!

Outhere thank you for the reply. I can have 1 as the starting led even if they are 4 separate strips?  I know if they are daisy chained you cannot.  i have them setup as right PF, Left PF and under cab left and right.  Each strip goes to pins 1-4 on Oak Micros PAL board.  Please let me know.  I'll run again and post log without doflinx.  Forgot that was on.

not sure if this will help these are from today.  Just tried again with DOFlinx off.  Also Teensy starts blinking when it starts a table like it's getting data, swapped USB cables and USB ports with no change as well.  All other DOF works.

Even if you you separate data wires it's still thinks it's one long string of lights

Ok so add them sequentially PF then undercab?  then change cabinet file.  I'll try that sir.

Do you have separate data wire going to each section or just one data wire for all

OK changed to your values above and on ACDC Luci, red undercab leds now no effects otherwise.  Stranger things white undercab no effects?

Separate data wire going to each strip. Since I had plenty of pins on the PAL.  Could change but would have to obviously re-wire them.

On your Teensy, regardless if you are connecting 1 wire (I use cat5 with octo board with 3) or all 4 (or even 8!), the LEDs appear as a continuous string and your Cabinet.xml must reflect that.

There are 8 <NumberofLedsStrip1...8> tags because the Teensy can handle up to 8 outputs.  Outhere has asked how you have it wired because if you have a single output from the Teensy going to 1 strip and the rest daisy chained then you Config is wrong.  Each  <NumberofLedsStripX> (where X is a number 1-8) represents an output on the Teensy.  Based on what you’ve shown, I’m assuming you have 4 wires coming from your Teensy going to 4 different led strips....

In each of your <LedStrip> entries the <FirstLedNumber> tag will be different for each entry.  Your first string will start at 1 as you have, your next will start at 145 (since your first string was 144 LEDs long and so on.  It is cumulative.  So you will need to fix that.

the file needs to be correct to work...

After you have your Config corrected, always ensure your COM port is correct as if not, then it cannot talk to the Teensy.

Finally, once all of that is checked an often overlooked step is running RegisterDirectOutputComObject.exe as Admin to re-register the updated info.

I hope that helps!

Scampa yes I have 4 wires each going to a dedicated strip wired to four pins on the teensy. Thanks for the re-register tip forgot yo do that part. It was late and I was melted from hours of reading and troubleshooting!! So I would basically only list two ports one for each side of the cab and only have two different combos in my DOF config file? Should I wire the left and right strips in series for under cab and play field? I was trying to get different effects for UC and PF. Thoughts and thank you I truly appreciate it. Learning more everyday!!

Are you using an octo board on the Teensy?  I don't ave my wires soldered directly, I go through it.

For me, I have a cat5 cable coming out of the OCTO..

I am using 3 wires going from the Octo/Teensy:

1. For Playfield Left and Right lights and a back Matrix

2. Undercab MX lights

3. Backbox MX Lights

But regardless, as I mentioned in my post, you need to determine how many outputs you are using from Teensy (I use 3) and then define the lights.  ALL the lights look like a single strand to the Teensy...So it starts at 1 and the count goes up based on the number of lights.  I hope that makes sense.  One of the biggest mistakes people have is the numbering in the file and your your original post you have each strip defined start with led 1...That will not work...  <FirstLedNumber>1</FirstLedNumber> is correct for the starting point but each additional added <LedStrip> that has <FirstLedNumber>..</FirstLedNumber> is cumulative.. Outhere gave you an example of that.

Hope that makes sense

@shaman2021

I keep thinking about you saying you have 4 wires soldered to your Teensy...How are you powering your LEDs?  Are they 4 control wires?  What 4 connections did you make?

I use an Octo board as described here:  https://mameinabox.c...ddressable-led/

If you are soldering directly to the Teensy, I'm hoping you are not trying to power your LEDs through it and that you realize you need an external power supply...

I'm just trying to put the pieces together to best help you.

Yes forgot to answer that part. I changed my values to add up sequentially as instructed by Outhere. Then I got the indications I listed with under an but no other effects. So I think I understand the strips relate to the ports on the DOF config? So four ports well 12 actually but how would I fire the strips rt of them rt cab left of them left cab? Bt up rt left etc? Thanks again. Man.

I guess it would be just like initial file since it depends on the orientation of the strip? Of course thought of that after I typed the above.

Yes external power supply for each strip 4 data wires one dedicated to each strip. Data wires connected to Oak Micros PAL board with a total of 8 pins for data only. This board has a 5v and ground to run teensy board from separate power source. All strips test good via arduino or teensy software. I just need to figure out my config for the cab file I believe. I now have undercab lit with games solid no effects and have never been able to get pf strips to light in game. Just VPX for now. Does this help? I looked at orientation table? Is a single strip one direction from that diagram? Or do I label it alternating? How is yours setup? Is btm up lt rt etc?
Would it just be easier to split into two channels and daisy chain them one for pf and the other for under cab?

@shaman2021 Review the link I provided in my post.

Have you defined your Teensy and LEDs in the DOF Config tool Port Assignments tab already?  That is where the connection is made...  Then you download those files for your Direct Output config.

I'm not 100% sure what you were asking.  If you are asking how to wire your leds to the Teensy, then again it gets back to how its wired to the Teensy...If you have 4 outputs on the Teensy you've defined, for 4 led strands then you wire each strand to each per your config file.  You defined then in the DOF Confil Tool to match.

It looks like you don't have a matrix, just single LED strips so you connect them to your teensy.  You'd typically use TopDownLeftRight...

Yes I have the DOF config setup for ports 1,4,7,and 10. And saved in the config file for DOF. I have pf effects combined with pf flashers as most Ive seen. So that should relate to the four led strips correct? So I would make my cab file TopDownLedrRight for all four entries in the cab file for each strip? And yes all single strips. No matrix I have a flasher bar in back.

I've attached my Cabinet.xml for your review, mine has a matrix so hopefully it will not confuse you.

Also, here is how I am configured in DOF Config tool....Not sure if you did this but there are two parts.  You defined your Red,Green,Blue for your ports and you define combos....Again I think that was all in the other link I provided you on setting this stuff up... BTW Combo 1 is my matrix so avoid that but notice the correlation of the Combos to the Ports in the DOF COnfig tool

Ok our setup is the same minus the backboard of course.  I think since you have them daisy chained it  makes perfect sense to me.  I'll re-wire to that config.  Not sure how to do it with 4 dedicated data lines to teensy?   Not even sure if that's possible I thought it was since it has so many ports.  I have the same setup in cab file but it doesn't output correctly.  My DOF file is very similar to yours so I think we're good there I think the data line should be in series or daisy chained like yours.  Thoughts?

I'm not really sure how you are setup...

I use one of these:  https://www.pjrc.com...OctoWS2811.html

So I'm familiar with that.  As far as wiring directly to the Teensy, I'm not sure of the appropriate pinouts and how it relates to the software you loaded on the Teensy...

I think i know how to fix it.  I need to daisy chain the playfield strips as one, then the same for cab.  Drop to two inputs in cab file and on teensy.  then have two strips listed in cab file with breakouts like yours for each strip?  sound correct.  I have a teensy board mounted to a pinout from Oak Micros he calls it a PAL board.
