So as you all may know, I have been working on table mods with HiRez00.

He has had alot of real life things taking up most if his free time lately. (He runs a business, and it doesn't run itself, so you can understand.)

The Halloween mod is almost fully completed. (Not sure if he is releasing this when it is finished, or if he is going to hold on to it until Halloween time, but either way it is going to be a kick ass table!!)

The Last Starfighter table mod is also almost completed. (Just needs graphics tinkered with.)

So I am trying to stay busy while he is away doing real work.

Ok on to the Greedo Cantina info...

A long time ago.... (actually it was about  week ago.)

In a galaxy far far away... (Ok it was somewhere in California.)

My friend HiRez00 told me to watch a movie he sent me, called Tilt.

Damn good Pinball Documentary about the fall of all the pinball companies. (I suggest you all buy this movie and watch it!!)

Well they had a part where it showed how they made the Pinball 2000 machines and how they subsequently failed in market.

After seeing the Star Wars Episode 1 table in the Tilt movie, it made me think..hey why not make a mod for each film, starting with Episode 1?

Then I thought...

Why not come up with something new that is still from the Star Wars universe, but has never been made before.

Ladies and gents...

I present to you....

                                                    Greedo's Cantina Pinball!!

Keep in mind, the lights on playfield and plastics will be modified, but this is basically how the playfield pic will look like.

This is mainly a graphics peek..

Ignore the playfield lights...

Here is pic..

capture120_t.png

and with plastic lights on...

capture242_t.png

I will be adding the 2 main cantina songs and another 4 songs that are sung in the Star Wars universe.

I also have 100s of alien voice effects from the star wars universe that will fit this cantina table perfectly!!

I first thought about using the Big Bang Bar table for this mod(a space bar table to make a space bar mod, almost too perfect!!!, but I think I would need to also modify the rom on that table, so I went with JP's excellent Skateball table instead.)

Perhaps if I learn to modify roms, I will switch it over to Big Bang Bar table in future, if I get permission.

I will also be adding fluppers flashers of course.

Just got excited and had to show you all how it looks so far.

I think this is a perfect theme for a pinball table!!!

What do you think?

Also here is pic I am using for backglass...

Got the playfield lights in.

Will start on playfield light text lettering next, then the rest of playfield text lettering.

Also need to make some new bumpers.

I already have all the sounds finished.

I have added over 130 different alien speech sound effects so far.

7 different ambience from inside alien bar setting.

2 Mos Eisley Street ambience sound effects.

8 songs from Star Wars universe played while in game.

When you start table the street ambience is started, and changes to bar ambience once ball is in play, then after game over, it goes back to street ambience.

During street ambience, an alien voice effect is played every 8 seconds.(Attract mode.)

During game, the lower left rollovers activate 1 of 23 Jawa voice sound effects.  Kicker activates 1 of 98 alien voice sound effects.

On drain 1 of 11 alien laughing sound effects is activated.

Player 1 start activates 1 of 13 Greedo sound effects.

This is just a side project to keep me busy while killing time.

capture121_t.png

and with Greedo's eye lit...(I may add matching flashing light to other eyeball.)

capture321_t.png

I also will be adding fluppers flashers of course.

I have a feeling this is going to turn out nice!!

Thank you for your time.

Carry on.

Tried a few bumper pics. (Actually tried about 70 pics, but here are the best out of the bunch.)

Which one do you think looks the best?

I may add a bunch of bumper pics that are toggled automatically during game like an advertising billboard on bumpers.

(Pic 5 is a logo for Death Star Dark Ale. I have alot of these type of pics I could use for this purpose.)

Pic 6

One of these 6 bumper pics will be the default bumper pic.

What do you think about the Billboard Bumpers idea?

(If not I can just make them to be toggled by magna save key.)

Thanks for your time.

Looks very nice, Xenonph !

My prefered ones are those on pic3, because in my opinion they are more at one with playfield and plastics colors

Just to know, where did you find pictures for playfield, plastics and backglass ?

I found all these pics on Yahoo pic search. It seems better than Google when it comes to searching for pics.

Added most of the playfield lettering, and text to lights.

I picked green and orange colors to try and match the color scheme.

I was going to use the Aurebesh font (Outer Rim and Galactic Empire lettering), but then nobody would understand what it says. Sure it would help add to the cantina atmosphere, but people would only be guessing what they are reading.

aurebesh_t.jpg

I may use this english version of aurebesh font..

aurebeshenglish_t.jpg

I used the Frontier font (Star Trek classic), on this version just to see how the colors would look.

There are a few things still needed like the lights around Greedos eyes, and the lights that used to say SKATE and BALL on opposite side of playfield.

I am trying to come up with a 5 letter Star Wars word for in front of lower left drop targets where SKATE was, and 4 letter word for lights in front of kicker where BALL was.

I have came up with many 5 letter words, but none really seem to fit. Was thinking maybe REBEL or JAWAS.

But I may choose from this list of words here...

http://www.completew...dictionary.html

Slimo jumps out to me. lol

Also I need to add a few text letterings to plastics still.

Here is what it looks like with the green and orange lettering..

capture123_t.png

I think I will be switching to another font, but just wanted to see how the text lettering colors looked when added to playfield.

Nice!!

I was thinking maybe REBEL and SCUM for this one.

Or CHUBA which means "dammit", and VOPA which means "would like" in alien speech. lol

I switched to that new font, and now I know why I picked that Frontier font. It has tall and skinny lettering. With this new font, I cant squeeze in the little writing next to rollovers, to where it is readable. So I will just keep those as frontier lettering. I also turned the rest of the orange lettering to green lettering. So only the lettering on Greedos head will be the orange.

I may switch back to frontier font, just for lettering on Greedos head.

As you can see in this pic, it takes up a wide portion, whereas with frontier font, I was able to fit it better, and it was readable without having to make it so huge.

I made it as small as possible , but big enough so you could at least be able to read it. (Doesn't it look huge? Or is this not a big problem?)

If you look at text that says "Collect Bonus" by kicker hole, it is way smaller compared to pic above with the frontier font. I barely squeezed it in there.

And I'm here again complaining. What about moving some elements a bit so it isn't a blueprint of Skateball ? Only moving the 3 drop target bank and or moving the upper flippers some could change gameplay quite a lot. You are good enough Xenonph to make more out of it. That is my honest opinion about what I'm seeing.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

I respect and thank you for your honest opinion Thalamus.

Most of my mods are sound mods of existing tables.

I have only made 3 tables where I did the graphics and the sounds. A Real American Hero, Christmas Pinball, and Battlestar Galactica.

As you know, (Because you taught me how to use resource tables), just a little over a year ago, I learned how to add fluppers flashers to tables.

I started out with those NFL mods, with no experience with photo editting. (I used Paint program that is built into Windows.)

I now use GIMP program and am slowly getting better.

I would love to actually create an original table from scratch like Batch has done and is doing. (I actually have never tried making one from scratch.)

Or would love to rearrange playfield objects and add 3D toys and animations like Watacaractr so masterfully did on his Tom and Jerry. (This guy is a genius!!)

I eventually will learn how to do all of this, because I do want to learn how to do all this.

Thats the great thing about this hobby, is you learn something new every day.

I appreciate you trying to push me to my full potential, and out of my comfort zone.

Thats how I started using the flashers, from you pushing me to learn it!!!

With that said, I actually like the playfield layout as it is. lol ....It seems to have great flow to me.

Perhaps when I learn enough, I will make a new Greedo table from scratch.

On a side note...

I was messing with graphics and I think I came up with a psychedelic version!! lol

capture243_t.png

And with Plastics lit...(I will be adjusting these plastics lights.)

capture322_t.png

Now imagine that with dark purple lights!! (Like a black light!!)

in a way I like the psychedelic version more. Somehow better structured and elements are more clear...
