Trying to DL Black Hole and Genie, and they dont appear in the DL section.

Have they been purposely removed?

LOL

Yup missed that all right. Now I have to go down to the cab and make a copy and bring it upstairs for BH updates.

So I guess its "obvious" that "Gottlieb" or whoever is left of "Gottlieb", made this request?

From Destruks words, I gather a DMCA notice was sent, asking to remove them.

Destruks words..

"Gottlieb roms have been removed from vpforums.org as requested."

We need an right to repair law so they can't lock roms under an pay wall. WMS / Stern don't seem to have an hard time about all of there rom flowing around out there.

Actually, the ROMS and their copyright are still owned by Gottlied Developement LLC which is part of the Mondial Group. Like any business, they are protected their assets, rightly or wrongly in the case of their pinball machine ROMS, that would have questionable value in this day and age. Go figure. ASs Joe said, WMS/Stern don't have a problem with ROMS. I think Stern's stipulation is to allow a "grace" period before releasing their ROMS that ran on their superceded boards.

In theory - yes STAT. But, well - to he honest. If they look for roms here, there are more than a few that has been updated and fixed that never got  the needed treatment here anyway. So, I personally recommend people to go to the place we should not mention.

I hope that this is not the begining of the end.

Williams sold there rights to Pinball FX and has a real interest to sell there tables at steam.

And if Bally and Stern will do the same we're pretty f...ed up.

What would be the process of doing it ? It is uploaded by you in many cases. It is not like I can overwrite yours.

Just let me know which files and where the corrected ones are.  Roms have been a low priority since I've been away for a few years.

They don't destroy your cab, i'm shure you'll find a way to prevent that. :chair:

But like you sad, new users can't play the tables no more if they don't have the ROMs and a comunity without new people will die.

And i also don't have all the ROMs dowloaded that i may need in the future.

You wanna know something really scary? If this whole ROMS thing gets to the point where the authorities are willing to presecute website owners for publishing ROMS, the future of Visual Pinball will be Future Pinball-esque. Now, while I enjoy playing EM tables and originals both old and new, it would be tragic if SS tables had to have their ROMS scripted.

Oh, where's the humanity!!!

It's definitely a shame all the hard work that people / artists in the VP community put into making re-creation of those Gottlieb tables and now NO ONE new that is just discovering Visual Pinball will be able to play them.

Bummer.

As i said: Google: Tablename Rom ... and you will find another "Emulation Page", where you can DL Roms, which you can't find here.

And for all the "Future Gods" here: you can't Scripting it for 100%, because Sounds, and possible Images, Light ID's and so on ...
