So, after a few boozy nights and an ongoing battle of volume between pinball and music i came up with a solution. Remove the music from the game and play my own instead!. This definitely won't be for the pinball purists out there but here's what i did in brief in case it's of interest to others..

1/ Installed Pinsound Studio (V0.9)

2/ Installed mp3/audio player (GOM Audio)

3/ Added a new system to PinballX (the 'Jukebox' tables list!)

4/ Under the new system I added a Launch Before command to open the audio player and Pinsound, i.e. execute a batch file containing;

    start /belownormal /b cmd /c "C:\Program Files (x86)\GRETECH\GOMAudio\Goma.exe"

    START /b cmd /c "C:\PinSoundStudio\PinSoundStudio.exe"

5/ Under the new system I added a Launch After command to close the audio player and Pinsound, i.e. execute a batch file containing;

    TASKKILL /F /IM "PinSoundStudio.exe" /T

    TASKKILL /F /IM "Goma.exe" /T

6/ For the tables I wanted to add to the new system I changed the altsound flag of the rom to 2. These were duplicates of some of the tables already listed under the main VPX system list in PinballX.

8/ Imported the pinsound files for the jukebox tables list via pinsound studio (these could be original or remixes but music only remixes weren't really worthwhile due to the next step)

9/ In file explorer opened the PinsoundStudio\Audio\ subfolders (the files just imported) and deleted the Music folder from each pinsound package

And that's it, I now have two system lists for VPX with some common tables listed. When the original lists tables are launched because pinsound studio isn't running I get the original rom sounds - but when the same table is launched (with pinsound and GOM Audio) under the jukebox (aka drunk!) system list I get the callout, jingle and effect sounds from the pinsound mix but with the music replaced by mine via GOM playing in shuffle.. Throw in a Griffin Powermate controller and i can crank up the volume selectively too, all from the cab and without competing with background music!

Happy days!!!  :bar2:
