Year: 1994
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

This is a DT table with working dB2S backglass on same screen.
I first would like to thank all involved for allowing mods without permission, and Batch and Darquayle for giving me permission to use his works of art!!

THE METHOD I AM USING TO CONVERT THESE DESKTOP VERSION TABLES TO BE ABLE TO USE AND HAVE ON SAME SCREEN A WORKING TABLE AND WORKING DB2S BACKGLASS IS A METHOD I LEARNED FROM KAAN, SO I WANT TO THANK HIM VERY MUCH.

YOU WILL NEED THE dB2S BACKGLASS PROGRAM INSTALLED FOR THIS TABLE TO WORK PROPERLY.
I HAVE INCLUDED B2S Backglass Server 1.3.0.2 WITH DOWNLOAD.

YOU WILL NEED TO KEEP THESE 4 ITEMS IN SAME FOLDER FOR THESE TABLES TO WORK PROPERLY.

SCREENRES.TXT
B2S.EXE
PINBALL TABLE.VPT
BACKGLASS.DB2S

SIMPLY START TABLE AS YOU WOULD ANY OTHER TABLE. THE DB2S BACKGLASS WILL AUTOMATICALLY STAY ON SCREEN.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE A DIFFERENT BACKGLASS, SIMPLY NAME NEW BACKGLASS SAME AS TABLE NAME AND PUT IN SAME FOLDER AS TABLE.
IF YOU USE 3 SCREEN BACKGLASSES THAT HAVE DMD, YOU CAN RIGHT CLICK ON A RUNNING BACKGLASS AND CHANGE IT TO HIDE GRILL, AS THESE 3 SCREEN VERSIONS WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY WITH THIS METHOD. ALSO ANY DB2S FILES THAT ARE REALLY LARGE WONT WORK WITH THIS METHOD AS IT TAKES TOO LONG FOR THE BACKGLASS TO LOAD.

IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE WITH FLIPPERS STICKING, TRY RESTARTING TABLE AS THIS IS USUALLY DUE TO FIRST TIME PLAYING TABLE ON SYSTEM.

NOW YOU CAN EXPERIENCE THE FULL BACKGLASS IN ACTION, AS SEEN BY CABINET USERS, ON A DESKTOP VERSION TABLE!!!

HOPE YOU ENJOY, AND REMEMBER TO THANK THE ORIGINAL AUTHORS OF THESE TABLES AND BACKGLASSES!!

Google freddy.zip rom.....it'll come up, the one from Game Tronic works, but seems I had to start the game several times before it would play correctly...

I have not seen one, you could make one though

not hard, just tedious

What's the best resource to make colorized DMD's? I'm really interested in doing some.

Probably this, unless you want to make stern ROM patches, but it is not free to do that

Here is a Guide

I have looked into it just out of curiosity and it seems exactly that lol time consuming but not really 'hard',, I think choosing colors would be that hardest part.. and keeping track of all the dots and frames lol

and vpuniverse has a forum for it somewhere I think.. just cant find it right now. these authors would probably point you in the right direction :

Are the regular ROMs of each game what I would use when configuring a colorized DMD?

I'm not sure but I would guess you could use whatever ROM version you choose of a game but if its one with a ton of ROMs maybe pick and work on the ROM thats most commonly used for the table creations or the one thats most up to date/complete? but idk for sure..

Yes

You could colorize any version technically
but as it is a tedious process, i would probably use what is either the latest revision of a given ROM
with the pin 2 dmd colorization, it is possible that a colorization could work on multiple ROM versions
if non of those aspects of the rom have changed

Like if they added new coin denominations or that kind of thing.

Long as none of the animation frames have changed, i believe.

You are not actually editing the ROM, just building frame by frame color instructions basically, to be applied to the scenes externally

Ok. Thanks for the explanation!  I was watching this video by Martin Knoppke and it was extremely helpful.

Great VID!

So I'm pretty  sure I'm going to start working on a Freddy DMD color mod.

I cant script (I can copy and past but that doesn't count in my book lol) and its probably going to be a lil bit before I can produce quality models so messing with these color DMDs is something I can do to contribute.. and I got time.. and after playing with color DMDs its top of the list for mods to put your table on another level lol

Just want to make sure your not (or someone else) already doing it.. sooo what game are you messing with?

Also I'm sure this has been answered somewhere but is there a way to get the colorization's from the Color DMD real pinball website to work on VPX? They have things called "chromas" you can download.. do those do anything in VPX? They have some awesome stuff and was wondering anyone had messed with those?
