After installing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update this weekend, the new Windows Defender flags the pinDMD.dll file at the following location (http://54.148.129.10...tion/pinDMD.dll) as a Trojan virus.  It quarantines the file and even stopped me from redownloading it.  I had to temporarily disable Windows Defender and add an exception to ignore this file in order to finally get my pinDMD v3 running again (you can find this under Settings in Windows Defender).

The real question is...is this really a virus?  And if not, why is it now being flagged where it wasn't previously?  Thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone else has a similar issue.

I have a screen capture of the Windows Defender log, but haven't figured out how to upload images to these forums.  Here is what the text of the log says:

Trojan:Win32/Codinx.A!cl     SEVERE

Description: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker.

Recommended Action: Remove this software immediately

I can assure you it is not a virus! Maybe some of the serial coms code inside is upsetting windows?

i have the same issue... the pindmd start when i start windows, but the screen stays on the startscreen (pindmd.com) when pinball opens or a table..no pindmd v3 screen..

Any idea how to fix this. i put the pindmd.dll file (c:/users/usbdriver) in make this file an exception. restart etc. even with windows defender down, still no visual. only the pindmd bootscreen.

any suggestions.

Windows 10, it's not a bug.... it's a feature  :bye2:

Yeh your'e completely right. after the upgrade windows couldn't detect the pindmd v3 on comport 3 anymore. I used the driver update to get it working. Now the pindmd is no longer recognized as a com port but as a "libusbK USB device"...

i don't no what that is but it's still not working i update vpimame also.

PinDMD3 is not a libusbK USB device either so not sure whats going on there lol.

For win10 you dont actually need drivers any more just let win10 install as a standard serial device. And the pinDMD.dll will find it through vid/pid

Could you uninstall that weird device? And let win10 install pinDMD3 as a serial device. And make sure you have the latest pinDMD.dll from pindmd.com
