I have Bop 2.0 and I can confirm that it is a completely different game than BOP, in terms of rules.
The cool thing is that while bop is really a one shot game.(the left ramp) Bop 2.0 forces you to shot all over the playfield and it makes it a much deeper and more fun experience.
It also makes the machine much more difficult.
The multiball rules are fantastic in 2.0. First of all, it is story based. Not only is there jackpots. You can get 2x and 3x jackpots by shooting the heartbeat ramp first. After hitting 6 jackpots (if I remember correctly) there is a super jackpot. But that is not all.
You then move to fase two the next time you start multiball and if you complete that one also, you get to one of the game's wizard modes.... Metamorphose. You can also hit the left scoop anytime during multiball for a chance to get some extra millions by holding both flippers for 5 sec (this is really hard to do with 3 balls in play, yes bop 2.0 has 3 ball multiball)
The left scoop also starts the modes. You have the 4 small wheel modes and another 4 Big Wheel modes. Each time you complete a small wheel mode you can then start a big wheel mode next time you go into the scoop. (if you can't complete the mode before the time ends, you start another small wheel mode instead of a big wheel mode the next time)
Get all the modes and enter Wizard mode 2: The Billionaire Club.
You also have a video mode in the game.
On top of all that, add the great speech calls from the same actor who did the original Bride, some really cool music, Color dmd, a great soundsystem, online leaderboards, achievements (think steam or game console achievements) and the ability to also play the original bop with pinmame in the options menu, along with a lot of other cool features and you've got yourself a winner in my book.
A very expensive add-on to a bop machine, but I think it was worth it.
