File Name: Odisea Paris-Dakar (Peyper 1987) VP9.9

File Submitter: mfuegemann

File Submitted: 15 Mar 2016

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): mfuegemann
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 1987
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is Odisea Paris-Dakar by Peyper.

Again Akiles provided the photos of this rare pin. It is mainly based on my Sir Lancelot table, as the ramp layout is the same. I checked the VP8 version by Destruk and had to change some of the switch and light numbers used there. In addition the table now has the bell ringing once a ramp shot is made.
The table has some sort of pity mode active, relaunching the current ball if the score was below 100K or so.

There are two knobs next to the flipper buttons that can be used to nudge the playfield without causing a Tilt. This has been emulated by the MagnaSave keys.

A DIP switch menu allows the adjustment of number of balls and the Match feature.

The table rules are included in the download file and the table information.

Hauntfreaks created a darker version of the playfield, plastics and apron. I added the option to use this Dusk Theme at the top of the script. The download file is a bit larger now. If You do not want the new look, version 1.1 is good for You.
Have fun and please use the support topic to post any findings and suggestions.

Michael

Michael do you need a good picture of backglass to build the B2S file too or not? I can do it with photoshop if you want.

i just took the table now, nice work mfuegemann, i have 2 issues though, the right slingshot is not working, i think it is a position problem that the ball can not interact with it, and the plunger sound which comes from very old tables and is terrible, if you can replace it with a newer sound :)

Hi Arngrim,

the right slingshot has been fixed with version 1.1. For the Plunger sound, I use the default sound file. If You have a better one, just send it over.

Hello Michael,

in my system all sounds from ROM are very quieter than the VP- sounds. Have you an idea where to adjust this tiny bug?

Thanks, Christian.

Hello Michael,

in my system all sounds from ROM are very quieter than the VP- sounds. Have you an idea where to adjust this tiny bug?

Thanks, Christian.

The best way that I know of to raise the volume is by doing the following:

1. Click on the DMD, or PinMame window if you prefer

2. Press the tilde (~) key - the key to the left of the 1 key on your keyboard.  This should open a white box inside the DMD window

3. Using the up and down keys scroll through the channels to find the channel you want (usually one with the volume that is to the low end)

4, Using the left and right arrow keys adjust the volume of the channel (left arrow lowers the volume, right arrow raises the volume)

5. Using the up and down arrows keys scroll through the channels to see if there are other channels needing to be adjusted.  If so, repeat step 4 for those channels

6. When done press the tilde key

7. Click anywhere on the table to return focus to the table

This may or may not work depending on your setup.  I offer no guarantees that it will.

Hope this helps.

An addendum to my procedure:

If you are using a backglass with this table, right click on the backglass and select show DMD window before you start the procedure.  This will display the PinMame window.

Hello TA2686,

I tried 2 ways ... "tried" says it.

1st I clicked right on the backglass and the B2S Backglass Servier Menue went up (Version 1.3.0.1). But I have not seen where I am able to choose "show DMD window".

2nd I called PinMame with the F1 key. The respective window opened (PinMame 2.6). With my German Keyboard I tried the button left from the "1" with and without shift - nothing. The German Keyboards have a "~", but it is the right last key in 2nd row from top, you reach "~" by pressing "alernate graph" in advance.. - nothing.

And here my stroy ends :bye2:  - for today. How can I open the mentioned adjustment window?

Try this then:

1. Open the table in the Visual Pinball editor (do not start PBX or B2S Server or whatever front end you use)

2. Go into the script and find the ShowDMDOnly line (I think that is the line, not at my VP computer right now)

3. Set that variable to True

4. Exit the script then hit play.  The table should render and the Pinmame window should display. (Again, do this without starting your front end)

5. Follow the procedure I outlined above

6. If satisfied, exit the table

7. Close VP without saving the table.  This will not save the script changes you've made

8. Start VP normally with your front end

Again, I do not guarantee it will work with your setup.

Hope this helps.

YES! It works. Now the sound is what it sould be. Thank you for your support !

For other users here the steps I succeeded with (I play cabinet mode):

- first make sure that showDMDonly is set to 1 or true (see instruction of ta 2868)

- click right on the backglass

- B2S server menue opens

- under "visibility" set DMD to "visible"

- close the B2S server menue

- click left on the playfield

- restart with F3 PinMame

- follow above given instructions of ta2868 - note: with a German Keyboard "~" is the button left of "1" (without shift)

- when set:

- click right on the backglass

- B2S server menue opens

- under "visibility" set DMD to "standard"

- close the B2S server menue

- click left on the playfield

- restart with F3 PinMame

Note: not set all channels to 100% can give best results, at Nemesis e.g. 50% is enough (otherwise the sound is unattractively distorted)
