I've got vpinmame installed with the roms correct as I can text from inside vpinmame but even I try to play a pin from VP I get the table and back glass but no dmd. Is there some file I need or something? I see the black window there just isn't anything in it.

Here is a picture to help explain the situation:

Now, if I set VpinMAME to play FS on that screen it does it, albeit horribly distorted.

Be sure your monitors are setup pf+bg+dmd in windows screen setup.

regarding distorted dmd, right click on the dmd and enable the border then use mouse drag to resize the dmd so it is no longer distorted

Go into regedit for a rom and see what ddraw is set to and pindmd.

ddraw you want 1

direct3d should be 0

 showpindmd should be 0

Once you set this for a rom, run vpinmame setup.exe, click on install, click on test. Choose the rom you modified in the steps above and click start.

What does that show you?

Perhaps some screen shots of your config in setup.exe and screenres.txt might help

run regedit in your cmd box. Then go to this entry...choose 1 rom to test with.

After you exit regedit,

run setup.exe that is likely in your vp directory or vp/vpinmame directory.

Click Setup Paths .. does Display say (Default) - if not change that, and ensure Always run full screen is not clicked.

Click Test .. select the ROM that you changed above and click start.

What do you get now?

Ok I checked with ResEdit and it looks exactly like what you posted.

The backglass is working, just not the DMD.  I'm driving all of this with a single Nvidia GT720 card that supports three screens.  Here's the current screenres.txt file for the table:

1920
1080
1366
768
1
0
0
0
0
0
0
0

Is there something I'm doing wrong here?

Screenres settings won't have any impact on the vpinmame Dmd window.

In regedit go to the sttng related rom and look at the ddraw and direct3d settings. Try all 4 combinations. 0,0 0,1 1,0 1,1 to see if that fixes your problem

If not export the registry entry and post it here

Is there a way to force monitor order?  For some reason my backglass is monitor 1, my playfield is 2 and my DMD is 3

Hmmm...tried some changes, and when I did it drew the dmd FS on the main display over the table....problem is I couldn't click anything but the scale was right.

I noticed something here....I downloaded the Star Trek:TNG DB2s table and it has a db2s executable in the folder....do I need to modify the table to use the db2s server?  When I tried that I get an error.  Maybe I'm using the wrong tables here.

You may be able to move the cables around and get the monitors in the right order...

A Link to the game your downloading

Maybe some screen shots of the settings you currently have, like your screenres.txt and anything else that might be useful

I posted my screenres file a few lines ago.  This is the table that I am using:

http://www.vpforums....s&showfile=6567

I can't really move the monitors around because I have a dvi, hdmi, and VGA so moving around is a little tough.  I'll give that a shot though.  Right now though, no matter what screen the DMD is on, it is not working.

If you have dvi-hdmi and vga, you should have them in this order: HDMI = PF, DVI = BG, VGA = DMD

If not, you will have difficulties.

That's what I'm doing.  HDMI is my table, DVI is my backglass, and VGA is my DMD.

The windows "identify" numbers are meaningless and confusing. You might have to use other numbers in your screenres.txt - it relates more to the ports then the windows numbers. Just be sure you have pf+bg+dmd left to right tops aligned.

You said you got the dmd to show on the pf? But full screen .. run setup.exe (vpinmame) and there is a checkbox you want to UNCHECK to remove the full screen. Once you do that you can drag the dmd up to the dmd monitor.

Ok well if I set ddraw to 0 direct3d to 0 I get these hashes on the screen.  It also happens when you set ddraw to 0 and direct3d to 1:

Running it alone now gives me the DMD though:
