Oh my goodness.

that puts me out of a job I think

There will be an all new app called "Stern Pinball Arcade" that will exclusively feature many of our modern tables. This app will be developed by FarSight, whom you all know as the creators of The Pinball Arcade.

Expect a lot more kickstarter campaigns, though...being that stern has almost exclusively focused on licensed games, anything TPA does will have to have a ton of cash dumped into it to appease the licensors.

I expect that will be worked into the licensing deal that Stern manages. I wouldn't worry about that at all. These are current licenses that Stern owns the rights to, not old licenses from defunct companies.

Hope they don't go after that other site, or this one.

Vp stern tables are way better then TPA.

Nice for them that they are going to do this. But they should infest in physics. The most important thing that sucks in TPA.

Maybe they cancelled cabinet support in TPA so they could add cabinet support in this new app?? Maybe...pretty please?!

Perhaps just the opposite- Stern as a business probably wants to avoid is having products out that compete with their own. keeping it locked out of cabinet would support a distinction between their primary product and a derivative. One of their objectives is probably keeping the public from equating virtual and physical tables as analogous products.

I don't care for tpa, especially when they dropped cab support but if it's because Stern doesn't want the experience to be similar to playing the real machine then they are really narrow minded. A lot of people can never afford a pinball machine or don't have room for a full size cabinet, Stern isn't losing any money if they allow cab support, but they could actually make more money if they release a digital version for vp cabs. Virtual pinball got me really hooked on pinball and now I want to buy a real machine but can't afford it yet nor do I have room for more than one cabinet.

I agree with lodger, but the weird thing is this is going to be a separate app. So why not have it in tpa anyway? I guess because people would want it in stern app too, or they deemed it's too much work. TPA is on every frigging device. :D

Stern also probably thinks by having an inferior but close experience with the app will get them more sales. They'd rather have the money spent on a virtual cab for themselves, and if not it doesn't matter for them anyway.

Ditto. My kids went bonkers for real pinball because of VP. We're taking a trip to the Bay Area this weekend for that very reason, for example. VP raises awareness for real pinball, which translates to money in Stern's pocket. Which is great. I want them to do well.

Ben Logan, they have a Gottlieb Olympics at Musee Mecanique at Fisherman's Wharf. You can practice at home before you try the real deal!

Why does this need to be it's own app? Unless they want to make only on pc's and newer IOS /  android hardware. The 512 MB ones may not be able to fit the table engine + emu + rom in ram for the sam games. Now they can do the pre sam games + the old stern games.

Now the sam games that stern does not have the right to any more may take some work to be done. Also with the new spike games being about 1GB in rom size with them needing to maybe down load the full ROM for each update.

Will kill peoples data plans and eat up a lot of phone storage.

Really curious what their first table will be. Will it be a spike game or a Sam game? Or another whitestar game? I feel like it's either got to be lotr or got... But Metallica is a strong option too and probably one of their better selling games

They need to have adult mode on by default and make it so you don't have to pay to get into the settings menu / void tournaments to use it. Don't do GOT with that BS.

lotr they need to get the rights?

also if they try any DMCA BS on we need to fire back with a code audit on there EMU software so they don't pull an other nucore.
