When I was looking at it, it seems all the collections were empty .. I added a few into the rubber collection but there might have been more. Others like metal and wood were probably lacking as were rolling ball sounds.

the file structure should look like this:

Visual Pinball>

Music>    <---- unzipped music files go in here

if your VP folder doesnt have a music folder inside it, create one

Looks like Newer is having the same issue as I. I have the music folder and extracted the music files to it, but like Newer, I get very little sounds and no music at all. I tested another table that uses music from the music folder and it works fine. Really strange

Okay another thought here .. go into the table .. change the names of the tracks to other songs that you have in your music folder ... see if that works. I bet 25cents its the codecs in the songs. If thats the case use google to find other tracks :-) or some sort of mp3 conversion to change the codec? I have the pinballx shark codecs installed on both my machines.

AK...your guess is correct..I stuck in some Beatles song names and it played them. So...what needs to be done? Do I need to rename the Metallica songs to something else? I have a few Metalluca CDs so I can make some mp3s. Thanks for your help. Wonder why the current music files don't work for me but they do for others

BOB

I will be updating the table soon to have a better DOF routine, the update will also have some sounds and music tweaks,

it will include a new music pack that i will run thru a generic MP3 codec and should make it that any system using windows media player should work

Hi all,

This table is great, however I'm not sure if I am experiencing a problem or not.

Basically, when I'm playing the table, the music just plays in the background and is unaffected by what's going on within the playfield (until a ball drains, and then a different song plays).

When playing the same table in Future Pinball, I understand that, that version behaves more like the real one off table which was made for Hetfield.

For example, on the real table (and the future pinball one), the table plays a tune on start up (Typically a live version of "One", or "'Sandman", then when you press start, "Fuel" plays and is timed perfectly to go with the launch of your first ball, then as you hit certain targets/ramps, a different track will play ("Sad but true" for example) and there are also some voice samples from Hetfield  (on this VP version, "Fuel" plays but doesn't have the same timing of loading the ball etc  - hope this makes sense).

Also, when you hit certain ramps on the real table/Future pinball version, the music stops and there is an engine sound, before a different track plays.

On this Visual Pinball version, a track just continues playing no matter what happens on the table?; I am I the only one having this problem?.

Many thanks in advance for any help, and also, thanks again for all the hard work recreating this table in VP.

Sosa..at least you got some music! I'm hoping HF updates it as per his post#11. Maybe that'll solve both our problems

Hi Again all,

Hauntfreaks apologies; after doing some more searching, I may have been able to answer my own question.

Would I be correct in saying that the original custom table (modded Earthshaker) required the use of a custom sound module, and so this is why your version of this table doesn't have any of the Hetfeild quotes etc?.

Are there any plans, or is it possible at any point to add in some Metallica quotes like the FP/real version? (I take it, that the ROM which this table uses doesn't include the quotes/sound effects?).

Another question i had is; would it be possible to add in a bunch of our own 'tallica tracks (in addition to the great selection you already implemented) for use with this table?. In the absence of the speech etc, it'd be cool to be able to have a large library of  'tallica tracks which randomly play.

Thanks again.

P.S: Obviously waiting patiently for the Stern Metallica Pro table to be released on here, once the real table goes out of production.

Sosa..at least you got some music! I'm hoping HF updates it as per his post#11. Maybe that'll solve both our problems

Yeah I saw that; maybe it will make everything feel a bit more dynamic and the sounds/music reacting to everything.

Still, pretty cool as it is, but of course would be so awesome with some tweaks additions.

hummm... I didnt know anything about the Metallica custom ES having any speech in it....

do you have a video where you can hear the speech?

this is the best explanation of what was done to the original ES rom I can find.... scroll down you can read how the whole machine was created...

http://www.pinballne...009/index4.html

the no music issue seems isolated.... we would need more people to come forward with the same problem... I've tested this on multiple machines, with no problems...

the reason the Future pinball plays the way it does is because its 100% hand scripted... this runs from the ROM which is just a mod of ES ROM and its just a TEXT mod to the rom

I dont code so, unless someone takes this on as a complete rescripting, its about as good its going to be...LOL  blunt but true...

find this in the script... add whatever tracks you have in your music folder... then add them to the tracks list in the script... make sure you change the TrackFilename(17)  <---this number, to the correct number of tracks you add....

Hi, here is a vid where you can hear some speech when a ball drains "...die by my hand etc" and some ramps are hit.

Regarding the coding to make something like this happen, it would be great if anyone here could get involved (I have no experience in that area unfortunately :-()

Great :-); thank you! Would I be correct in saying that they will always play in the same order (as per hoe they are numbered? Would be great to have them play in a random order.
