I thought maybe we could start a thread of tables that could use a refresh/redraw/update. So if people were looking to take something on, they could look here for ideas on what to start work on.

Perhaps even couple this thread with a poll to determine how popular the requests might be...

Realize that many might want to wait for VPx to go production it should still be valuable to start now.

Okay .. so what tables should we look at and/or beg to be released and/or re-worked? (only tables that are legit to be released ;-) )

Jungle Lord needs a full redo. Then we would have the complete Williams Magna-Save collection! Also would love to see Alvin G's Pistol Poker get re-done.

Thanks.

It would be extremely nice to have updated physics and primitives on some of the older Bally solid state machines like Kiss, Super Sonic, captain fantastic (although pretty sure em), mata hari, etc.

+1 to Data East Ninja Turtles.  Its a table I'd love to work on but have found almost no resources for.

I'd love to see a TAF and Medieval Madness in VP10, taking advantage of all the cool new features :P

I feel like a thread similar to this is kicking around some where.  People tend to mention the same tables over and over again that are the more popular tables but really most of these tables already look great in VP9 and wouldn't take much to convert to VP10.

Pretty much any VP8 conversion table that dboy has done could benefit from someone having a look at it.  One table I came across that wasn't in too bad of shape was Cueball Wizard.  I think it could greatly benefit from just a few primitives and lighting updates.  I'd like to make the Cueball / Pool Cue thing a primitive.

As you can see from the image below, the table's artwork is pretty good, but you can tell it's outdated specifically from the 2D image based flasher domes that were commonly used during that era of VP.  People should note that most of these tables are set up wrong due to the manual showing the wrong set up, the Cueball should be up top and the 8 ball below....according to Todd Tucky (TNT amusements) and I tend to agree with him, in pool you never hit the 8ball with the cuestick, you hit the cueball.

I'm always a bit torn when i look at this kind of topics.

Sure, for non-table builders it's nice to throw around table names like "do *this_table* please!" "do *that_table* please!". Very often seen in the The Pinball Arcade forum/facebook page...

For table builders it's all about the resources. It doesn't matter of everybody wants a better version of *table* if no resources are available that make it better looking than before.

You just want better flipper/gravity settings: there are guides for that.

@hmueck:  I hear ya,  resources often dictate how good a table will look, or if it can even be recreated.  However I think maybe tables with sub par resources can often be polished by re-draws and touch-ups.  Obviously it makes it a lot more work if all the artwork needs to be redrawn but it wouldn't be the first time.  This is why to me just constantly updating the same popular tables with minor updates seems a bit lame when there's so many tables that need some real work put in.  Redraws are really involved but at least once they are done, hopefully they are of good quality and accuracy to the real thing that they can continue to be used in future updates.  I'm helping out on the Kingpin WIP (Capcom) and it's a 4-5man team, two of which are dedicated to just re-drawing artwork because resources are a bit thin and we just simply don't have HD images for a lot of stuff.  All the plastics, PF, signs, decals etc all have had to be redrawn and even for a team the table has been a large undertaking but hopefully in the end everyone will have a beautiful and super rare table in their collections.

I agree. Even with some little touches like new lightning or new ideas can make them look better. I'm thinking on trying it....

I agree 100% that we shouldn't do the same tables again and again. There are so many out there - some never recreated because of lack of resources (or "redrawers" :)), some recreated only in VP7 or earlier...

For example, there's only a very low-res looking version of Tag Team. All i found is ONE high-res picture. Sadly, redrawing isn't my thing. I don't even have a program for that (Ilustrator or something?!).

I like to look at the IPDB Top 100 tables as something as a priority list. On the other hand there are the rarities that never have been recreated. How to decide what to do next?

Requests for "most beloved table" don't really help me. E.g. i would never recreate a table that is already available in The Pinball Arcade. That table will always be superiour...

P.S. I know.. Robots is in Zaccaria Pinball. But that wasn't available when i started that table. ;)

That was my intent for the thread .. lost gems .. not touch ups of things like MM or TAF. Some oldies 5+ years ago .. who knows with google these days and other sites maybe we can scare up some better resources.  Not looking to list tables just to get them updated to PM or VP10.

So keep them coming ..

Ones on your cabinet that you don't like to show others let alone play them ;-)
