WHIRLWIND for VP9.2+
by ICPjuggla, Cosmic80 and Herweh
Playfield by ClarkKent

Very, very special thanks to Blackmoor for providing us awesome scans and images of his pin, for play-testing a lot to get the gameplay feeling as accurate as possible and to always be there to answer all our questions.

This is a 'from scratch' rebuild.

Check out the options in the table script. You are able to select the plunger lane direction, the apron's cards color, an option to rotate the Williams logo on the apron like Whirlwind's fan and an option to select a fan or storm sound when the fan is on.

Thanks for and to:
- Fading lamps code, flasher images and a lot inspiration from JPSalas
- Bumper's meshes and a lot inspiration from UncleWilly
- Some sound files, flipper tap and saucer code from JimmyFingers
- Alpha Ramp Plunger code by Koadic
- Ball rolling code by JimmyFingers and/or Rascal
- B2B Collision code by Steely & Pinball Ken and Koadic
- Two sounds files from the older Whirlwind build (thanks Noah for allowing us to use them and thanks to UncleReamus)
- Play testing by Blackmoor, Lobotomy and Pipshag.
Hopefully we haven't forgotten anybody.

The table features 'Customizable Options' at the top of the table script. You may select VPinMAME, UVP or B2S, DMD rotation, GI and/or Flashers on/off, Cabinet Sounds or Ball Size. There are some more settings to affect the gameplay.

Have a lot fun.

Yeah, there was still a version in our dropbox. I haven't looked closely enough. ;)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have mentioned this in the upload info already but please let me explain it a bit more:

In addition to our usual options at the start of the table script we have added three more options:

  • RotatingWilliamsW_ON: Disable or enable a rotating Williams "W" on the apron when at the real pin the fan is going on.
  • BlueApron_ON: Choose black/white or blue colored instruction cards on the apron.
  • Plunger2Ramp_ON: At some real Whirlwinds the plunger kicks the ball into the inner orbit, at other pins into the left ramp. Select the plunger outlane direction: 0 up the inner orbit or 1 up the ramp.

Have fun.

thanks for another top notch release.  Your team is incredible.  Table plays so great and smooth with DOF.  I did see the ball skip while going up down the lock tube, but only saw this once.  So glad you made this table as it was my brothers favorite way back, and can't wait to show him this recreation.  Thanks again

Oh, sorry thewool,  you probably should have waited to check the boards until after you got home. This is a sweet table!

What can I say, ICPjuggla, Cosmic80, Herweh, ClarkKent,  outstanding job guys!  I played this game and Elvira in the break room at work for years, far more than all other tables combined.  I loved the previous version WW, but it just didn't feel real to me.  I'm not much of a pinball expert so I can't tell anything about speed physics, etc.  It just didn't feel quite there.  This one to me feels just like playing the actual table.  For the first time ever I squinted my eyes at the point where the fan would normally kick on.  I was like "why did I just flinch, and then I thought oh yeah that's where the fan fires up". :love39:

Dear Stefan,

again ... everything done by your team is awesome. Thanks for this great stuff.

Torsten

PS: The ball got stuck above the "cellar". It could be removed with nudging (3 repeated presses). Maybe you can tweak this a little bit...

WOW! Incredible realistic game play. Outstanding work .....

I been away form VP a couple years since I lost my Cab in a flood and started rebuilding a new one reciently,

I can't believe how realistic these tables have gotten.  A testament to the hard work and upgrades to the product tools and talent of all the designers and programmers.

People often say Virtual Pinball is not as good as a real pinball machine, well I got to say that line is getting very thin if not non-existient with work like this.

Keep up the great work!!  :otvclap: :otvclap: :otvclap:

PS: make the spinning W and the blue cards the default!
