I havnt seen the new wizzard of Oz pinball machine yet.Does this machine use roms like virtual pinball cabinets use now or some new technology???I would be very very interested if Noah or someone else would know,if they anticipate roms being released for this machine  in the future.I notice the table uses a 25 inch cpu, which involves video clips being shown at certain points in the game. Will there have to be new technology introduced to be able to introduce it to the virtual pin cabinet world??Any input from members would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

there is a rule that we can't make the newer pins

until the roms get released to the general public

I think it's a three year period we must wait until the laws allow the roms to get released

and you mention roms like the vp cabs now use

those roms are really from the commercial pins themselves

and put online for us to use in the vp pins

as for video clips being used in vp pins, that technology isn't available to us

but someone could make custom dmd animations for it

if they have that talent

PinballNews should have the low down once they get to review the game system, or perhaps an owner or the manufacturer will provide some schematics.  But I doubt we'll even start considering looking at emulation for it until it starts to need some kind of preservation years after the release of the game, and years still after the boards are considered obsolete.

Played WoZ on Sunday - the software is still very far from finished, but it's nice game - feels very solid.  Was next to Avengers & if I was stood in arcade with them side-by-side there'd be no contest into which my coin would drop...WoZ every time.

WoZ looks much better, feels much better, has some very apparent innovation, and has more to do (well...it will when the software is finished - e.g. currently there are build-up modes & such that lead to nothing but obviously will do).

I'm not sure what it uses in terms of ROMs or not...but I do know it runs on a Linux platform using Intel chips (I saw it boot up a few times...but can't remember what linux version it's running).

Regards,

Dan.

IT's just a X86-64 intel board + a usb driver / IO board. Ruining linux.

Back glass Display is VGA / DVI out.

the game software is held on a 64GB solid state harddrive

I have asked how big is the software, but cannot get an answer

users will be able to update the software, but it will be a patch, not a new download like current sterns

there was also a comment a year ago that the hard drive will have somesort of copy protection

copy protection well the driver board or some other usb dongle can do that.

64 GB may have some kind of back up / os fall back it in. The biggest stuff likely is the video / sound files.

With a HDD it's easier to do patching then with sterns where there system seems to need to re flash the full roms.
