Earlier we broke the news of the new planned Pro Pinball project with Pat Lawlor and John Youssi. The Kickstarter project to provide funding has started today, with 30 days to raise the required $400,000.

$400,000!!! I don't think so, not even close. The Pro Pinball guys really need to look at what the Future Pinball guys are developing and creating for FREE!

This Kickstarter thing is getting a little crazy. I might start a Kickstarter to build my own PinCab. Who wants to back me?

For a $10 pledge you get a signed photo of me playing my new PinCab that YOU paid for.

Just asked a question on the kickstarter page.
Got a nice responce.
The game will support xp onwards for os

Alsi was told if they reach their target goal they plan on making new tables for release and possibly looking into licensing some real tables

Sounds very promising

I hope they reach their goal.

Im in for 100.
Its a batgin considering you get all five tables and a boxed version of the pat lawlor table

@jonbaker- pro pinball is the closest physics to real pinball ever created for a simulator.
I would

"it will all be ok in the end, if it's not ok, it's not the end"

@ JonBaker

Come on you're Scottish, spare some of that pizza crunch money for the cause!! smile.gif

Physics issues aside, FP does not look great in a cabinet. You can't replicate the keystone effect (unless you know otherwise) so the tables look squared off which is just wrong for me. PP will support potrait mode straight out the box and the pre-rendered gfx and light effects looks stunning. Cabinet users will really buy into this...

It does seem a lot of money but the thought of a new Pat Lawlor table with the physics of Pro Pinball and the awesome light show that has been demoed will be the key investment point for most people. Personally I'll be donating and I really hope they reach target.

Since many people outside of the US don't have creditcards and instead use Paypal(me included), they won't be able to contribute. That I think is gonna be the reason why they won't reach the 400k. Hopefully some rich dude feels he got one too many dollars on his hand and wants to lighten the load. Someone did just put in 10k...crazy...
Here's to wishful thinking.

Rooter: Will the PC version support features that will allow the game in be played in my pinball cabinet? At least dual monitor, arcade mode (non-scrolling) support would needed, but support for the LEDWiz, digital plungers, etc would be amazing.

Hi Rooter,

Thanks for getting in touch.

Absolutely. We will be rendering a specific view just for cabinets and will support dual monitors too. Other cabinet features like the ones you mention will probably be included at some point as we intend to create our own cabinet.

Cheers,

Ade.

I had a dream that there was an online petition for a PP editor and everyone from here signed it plus thousands more....

then woke up and realised it would never happen even with 3 million signitures.

Ade has already answered this after UncleWilly posed a question. His answer wasn't a definite 'no' but it's hopfully something for the future if things go well.

Oh, I see. Well I'm glad someone at least asked. dblthumb.gif

Maybe with a greater known interest for it , it could well happen one day.

In the video for the kickstarter, Ade puts on a jumpsuit that is pretty much a Ghostbusters suit. He does this without any reason. Pat Lawlor makes a point of asking what the suit is for, which Ade immediately dismisses. This has me thinking that perhaps the reason for the $400,000 goal is a hope of doing a licensed table, perhaps Ghostbusters.

Could you imagine a Pat Lawlor designs GB machine?!

I figured it was just supposed to be a crappy flight suit.

The bigger question should be will there be a Ghostbusters 3 movie and or can they get Bill Murray to do voices for a game if they do Ghostbusters.

I'm not entirely sure; I've never actually played the Pro Pinball games yet. I'll get one off GOG and see what goes.

Why does everybody get these off GOG? For one thing, it is illegal because the Pro Pinball guys don't see a penny of those profits. & for another thing, I know for certain that at least Timeshock! is missing the music on that version, which is only a DOS version that runs through built in DOS box.
Please, pay the extra $1 & just get the game elsewhere, a physical copy. If you have trouble finding it, I can help. Last I checked you could get the whole 4 collection of CD's at Amazon for as cheap if not cheaper than the 3 games on GOG. Yeah, considering Timeshock has some of the best pinball music in history, you might want that.

Oh bloody hell. They've definitely overextended themselves with that sum. I've gone out on a limb before and said projects wouldn't reach their goal, and I've been wrong every time, but bloody hell, just look at that! 400.000 dollars? There is NO way a niche fanbase like the pinball community is going to put up that much cash, especially on a limited platform like Kickstarter which doesn't allow Paypal. I'm going to throw up my 50 bucks as soon as I get my pre-paid credit card, but still, that's a HUGE amount. Pinball Arcade's 70K was pushing it.

If a major part of that cash is going towards a license, it's going to be a waste of money, or rather, a major factor in why this project won't get funded.

And of course, that's why these are still being sold on GOG even though the Pro Pinball guys are active and working. Oh wait, no. I mean really, do you have facts to back up that statement? You don't just throw out accusations like that without some facts. And if so, why are you not telling the Pro Pinball guys that? After all, it should be within their legal rights to at least call a C&D on GOG, or even get a settlement that gives them a slice of the pie, helping fund the project.

Yeah, sadly, I don't see this making the 400k it needs either. Only a 20k burst on day one, it'll be downhill from there.

Man, that sucks.
