It's done!

It's with great pleasure I announce the release of Junkyard Cats!

Junkyard Cats is a totally original, late 80's inspired virtual pinball machine
with an unforgettable cast, stunning visuals, and a rockin' soundtrack.
Junkyard Cats was designed to look, sound, and play just like a Williams
pinball machine from 1989. Sound too awesome to be true?
Download it now and judge for yourself!

I put WAY too much effort into this wink.gif Every sound effect, music track, graphic, line of code, the design and... even the voices... are by me. I hope you guys have a blast, and for you die hard fans - the donate button is right on the homepage!

Download it now at http://junkyardcats.net/

Do me the tiniest of favors and like the facebook page! It's also right there on the homepage for you smile.gif

Now go enjoy Junkyard Cats!

BB - This table looks absolutely wonderful. I like the art direction and the overall theme of the table. I might have to install FP just to check this table out...

Just curious... would you ever be willing to give permission to have some of your tables re-created in VP?

Fun table. Really enjoyed the few games I have played so far.
On my first game the ball popped off the orange ramp and went into the flashers in the top right. However it did not get stuck, it made it back into play.
Love the music and the voices are fun.
One of them reminds me of Uncle Arthur on Bewitched when he says "Shoot the flashing lights kidos" and "Meow".

Fantastic table Brendan! Worth the wait for sure. Tune is catchy as hell, I actually caught myself whistling it on my way to work!

This looks really nice, and you hit the late 80's feel perfectly with the music and display and sound effects, etc. You can tell a lot of work went into this. Nice job Brendan!

On my first game the ball popped off the orange ramp and went into the flashers in the top right. However it did not get stuck, it made it back into play.

Ditto. I saw some other oddities with the ball attempting to enter the orange ramp, including one situation where the ball jimmied in the entrance and ended up just sitting immobile on the metal flange, until I nudged it loose. Flipper angles seem weird sometimes, but I think that's a limitation of the newton physics rather than the table itself.

Looks and sounds like a million bucks, though. This is the kind of thing I can only wish to do in my daydreams. Worship.gif

Can someone please tell me as to how to find and change in the script so i can go from 3 balls to 5 balls per game? I cannot find where in the script to do so, and how to do so...

Thanks.

Yeah, lots of weird physics stuff happens with the ramp. Trying to smooth it out, but I think there's a physics enhancement for FP floating around that may help. There's a discussion about it going on on [site reference removed], but I can't link to it on here (...really?)

I've added some transparent walls to help eliminate stuck balls. Almost all of the stuck balls that still occur CAN be unstuck by nudging, but I'd like to eliminate them altogether obviously smile.gif

Pure eye candy !
Very well done. I really appreciate the effort you've put in this baby.
The accompanied website is cool too.

The new FP physics are much better than the old junky physics.
I am running them in my cabinet but forgot to install on my Desktop PC.
I will try this table with them installed soon.
Thanks again for the great table release.

Line 1291:

BallsRemaining(i) = nvBallsPerGame

Just replace "nvBallsPerGame" with a number of your choice. Something like this:

BallsRemaining(i) = 250

Yeah, that actually probably won't work. I created my own variable to handle the balls per game and I don't remember what it is off hand (I coded this months ago). I'm pretty sure it's not easily changed as I calibrated the game to be a 3 ball game (like most late 80's games are). Changing BallsRemaining might work, but it may also screw other stuff up, so edit at your own risk!

Just search for "Balls = 3" in the script and change it to 5 everywhere you see in the code. It's in there a bunch of times and if you don't change them all, the game will probably glitch after ball 3.

Again, I calibrated this to be a 3 ball game. Having 5 balls will probably make it way too easy to get multiple extra balls off of the jet bumpers, so I'd recommend sticking to 3 balls and practicing! smile.gif

Pinwizkid,
I LOVE the picture of the cat laying on the pinball machine with the fishbowl on it, as I have a cat and am a cat lover!

I was wondering, with your permission, of course...could i possibly have a copy of that pic to put on my wallpaper on my computer???

If it is ok, my e-mail is: [email protected]

Thank You,
Richard.

If you'd like the Junkyard Cats version, you can export it from the texture manager. I believe it is saved as "poster.jpg."

I had the pleasure to get the game in person directly from Brendan. I set it up on my VirtuaPin and it looks fantastic in full screen!
