Here follows, what I hope to be, a complete list of pinball emulators on different platforms. The word emulator refers to an implementation of a real machine, on these forums often called a recreation. Hopefully this topic has the potential to become sticky and you pinball addicts will help me to complete the list on spots where it turns out to be incomplete. are you including all the pre video game console early home computers?
I owned an Atari 1040St with 1 meg built in (hey that was huge back then people!)
with Midi ports also built into it. Something lost even to this day. Anyhow I owned several pinball games
for that computer, and even on the older Atari 400 and 600 which I also owned at one time.
My 400 played on our old black and white tv set of all things. Every game for it was tape driven, so that pinball game yeah it came
in a plastic baggie with typed out instructions, bought off a peg board in a local North jersey store, that much I do remember
see back then this is what we had local clubs with geeks who owned these old pigs, commodore 64's, early apples and such,
man yer gonna get swamped when asking for ALL the programs for pins! See the atari 512 and 1040's
were famous for pirated software from everywhere. I can't even say mine was a licensed product.
I sincerely doubt it. it was probably made locally and sold at that one store
and I just know the Commodore 64 being the more popular one at the time, had hundreds of them too!
and yeah they did try to copy what was out at that time some were construction sets too

He means pinball games that have real tables, faralos.

Not that it's a big deal, but an emulator is software that emulates the hardware from the real machines so it uses the exact same code/rom as the real thing, hence getting the most realistic reproduction possible. Recreations don't emulate the hardware, they tend to be custom made for the platform from scratch. Feel free to roll eyes at this nitpicking. biggrin.gif

@Faralos: 'Complete' lists of pinball games can be found all over the internet. The reason why I made this list though, is that there is no place which gives an overview of the games which recreate real pinball tables, which the people over here does interest most I guess.

@Sabbat: Luckily I wasn't that unclear in my explanation.

@Shooby Doo: You have a point on this one, however, a topic name like "Complete list of software recreating real pinball machines" is too long in my opinion. If you can come up with something good I'll take it into consideration. I requested to include other people's thoughts anyhow. Furthermore I don't know whether or not this is the correct category for the topic, but that's a point for the moderators.

@Numiah: Which real pinball machine has been recreated in "Balls of Steel"? I can find only one version of the game having five original pinball tables.

I did only read the first couple of words from your post and didn't realize you meant implementations of real machines...

@numiah: No problem, seems to happen to more members over here. And after all, I rather check double than missing a game from the list wink.gif

woops me too, I didn't see the 'emulator being for a real machine',
I thought you meant any platform that plays pins sorry for that blush.gif
okay SOME of my Atari programs did try to emulate the real commercial ones
out at that time but of course they did not use the roms at all
there were a few crude mockups of the outside of the pin usually on the box art somewhere.
the game play also left much to be desired, but back then we grabbed anything and everything]
computer related as all those game platforms you mention had yet to be invented

@MajikBubble: Great game (I have it myself), but it doesn't include any recreations of real pinball machines for as far as I know.

After almost a year I thought about updating this topic. The following changes have been made:

- Gottlieb vs. Williams has been removed. This must have been the working title for The Pinball Arcade.

- The Pinball Arcade has been added to different platforms for which it has been announced.

- Zaccaria Pinball has been added to the list, which is currently only available for iOS.

- Added a simulation of Ice Cold Beer which was made available by Shockman.

- Added two Flash sites with penny arcade games: Penny Machines Arcade & Nostalgiapelit.
