So a conversation with an fellow atariager led to me purchasing an Atari "Middle Earth" pin for cheap. Doesn't work(game doesn't start), but it's complete. Getting this widebody downstairs into the basement was a heckuva chore.

I figure if all else fails, it can be made into a Hyperpin cabinet. But I am going to make an honest effort for troubleshooting & getting this thing going. Not too much harm in trying. There's a nice 150-page PDF to read through for troubleshooting. That seems to be well documented. So there seems to be some options here.

There's still a part of me that wants a Baracorra for $600 from a guy in Iowa(love that game), but that guy never answered the phone/emails. Ugh.

Long day today. Pinball tournament tomorrow!

Somehow I made 4th place in the qualifying round for the tourney. It was a tiebreaker between me & the organizer(who's ranked in the 300s) for 4th. I beat her by a good 700 mil in Who Dunit? Made it to the 3rd round and lost my butt off. But that's the farthest I ever gotten.

Anyways....

The backglass is perfect. I see one broken linkage to the solenoid on a slingshot. The coin door needs a lock, and we can't unlock the backbox. But I have a friend who lives for lockpicking. With the PDF manuals & a few people I know, it looks like we just need to spend some time checking voltages & such. I haven't even plugged it in since gettiing it setup for fear of breaking it. There's fuses to check up on & some other clean-up work. Been busy with work.

I'll be in Sydney in 40 days. If luggage carry-ons weren't so pricey I'd bring it with DedRok.

Comet. I did terrible on that machine. The guy who won that round got 2.1 mil. He advised me not to plunge it all the way. But either way, that machine's always a source of frustration to me.

I also didn't do that great on Sorcerer, despite playing it tons on Williams Pinball Classics. Could not lock a single ball on it, so no multi-ball love for me. But I still enjoy that game.

Diner. Got a warning on it, so I held onto the ball with the flipper for several seconds for it to cool down. I make a shot and instantly tilt.

Good old Comet, it can be a pain some days.

Diner is nice to play, can also be a pain ........ need to get back up to my mates place and get some nice pics of it.

DO NOT TRASH THIS PIN! yeah the game play itself wasn't the greatest but that thing is huge!
I loved playing that thing. It was one of the first wide body's I really liked although it liked to drain
on me quite quick, for as slow as the ball went! Do anything you can to save it please, hell,
you know the guys here will bend over backwards (maybe even driving to you if they live close) to help
save this... yeah it's an antique now! so please anything to bring it back and post on each step of the way too
if ya' can!

Okay, I shall not trash the pin. For my Hyperpin future project(if I ever get a price quote on that display), I could consider a junior "sits on a table" version, without cabinet & minimal woodwork.

Just need to find free time & get some people over to carefully check this & that. I know there's a guy around here that has another Atari pin who probably knows the ins & outs better than I ever would.

Now just need to find out how to get that puke smell out. All in good time.
