Here is my fist Virtual Pinball cabinet build.

http://arturosarcade...new-era-in.html

Specs:

AMD Quad at 3.4GHz
Gigabyte MOBO
4 GB DDR3 Patriot Memory
EVGA NVIDIA GTS450 Playfield and Backbox
EVGA NVIDIA 6600gt DMD
37" Vizio Playfield
25" Hannspree/I-Inc LCD Backbox
15.6" Hannspree/I-Inc LCD DMD

Cabinet: Fire-damaged Williams Pat Hand

The cabinet had caught on fire because someone used WD-40 on the reels then they sparked.
Dude also installed plexiglass as the playfield glass... so it had melted onto the playfield.

Anyway, I got the cabinet from Al Warner for free, then I bought most of the components new,
I figure I have about $1500 tied up in this cabinet.

Started with this:

And ended up with this:

Very nice work man! Nice that the burned out cabinet went to good use!

Welcome to the cab club. Looks really nice - would never know it had been in a fire smile.gif

Your plunger setup looks interesting - Does it work well?

yeah, how do you account for the overrun as it were on the plunger so that it does not destroy the micro switch in a short time?

I normally use a roller micro swtich and mount it at the front under the plunger so the very small amount of overrun that you get with it keep it in contact so in threoy you should not get the push and release effect you can sometimes get.

The plunger works, but it does have that switch bounce. On most games it is no big deal, but some games you have to plunge gingerly.

Has anybody come up with an easy solution to de-bounce the plunger switch?

Do you have any pictures of your roller micro switch setup?

I would like to experiment with something like that.

even after decades of being around pins I have never seen one with that much fire damage! Wow! Very nice save on the cab too! I am guessing that there was no structural damage to the cab? And it turned into a great looking vp cab!!
