Ghostbusters 2011 B2S

Version: 2011
Category: VP 9.x B2S Cabinet Tables (B2S)

Author(s): Bob5453

Description:
Working Backglass using B2S
This is my new Ghostbusters table and a B2S working Backglass.

It's pretty simple to set this up. There is a How to install Text file included, but I posted it below for anyone who is considering downloading. It uses the latest files from Rosve for the working backglass.

I'd like to thank Rosve for all his work on the B2S backglass project.

Steps to install and run the Active backglass.
--------------------------------------------------------------

- This application requires that .NET Framework 4 is installed on the computer.
If it is not installed, it can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/deta...;displaylang=en

- Copy the files Tablename.vpt, Tablename.exe, ScreenRes and b2s.vbs to your Tables folder.

- Enter the resolution of your screens into the ScreenRes.txt in the following format:
X-resolution of the Playfield display. (must be the same as in VP/Preferences/Video Options)
Y-resolution of the Playfield display. (must be the same as in VP/Preferences/Video Options)
X-resolution of the backglass display.
Y-resolution of the backglass display.
Display number (1 - 3). The screen that you want the backglass to be displayed on.

You can now start the backglass.exe by double clicking on it.
Start the table as usual from vp.

If you do not want the backglass to be started automatically, edit the table script and change the line:

LaunchBackGlass "backglass_name",true --> LaunchBackGlass "backglass_name",false

--------------------------------------------------------------

Too many steps to play this table......

That's why there is a widescreen version. smile.gif It is totally awesome to play non VPM tables with a working backglass on my cheapass computer, but like UW says, I can just make them for myself if no one else is interested. LOL

Lets go over the one-time only steps to play a B2S table.

1. You need to have .NET Framework 4 is installed on the computer. You already have a version of .Net Framework on your pc, this is just the latest version, so it's a one-time update.

2. You need to enter your monitor resolutions in the ScreenRes folder. You only do this one-time, you never do it again, unless you change your resolutions or monitors.

3. You drop the b2s.vbs into your Tables folder. You only need to do this one-time, unless there is an update to it.

The following steps you have to do for each table made with B2S

1. Put the Tablename.vpt and the Tablename.exe file into your VP table folder.

That's it, once you have a table working with B2S, you only add the table and the Backglass.exe to the table folder. I know this seems overwhelming for a lot of people to do, but once you figure this stuff out, a mentally challenged caveman could do it.

Let's review.... Once you have one B2S table working, then you drop a newtable.vpt file and a new Backglass.exe file into your tables folder. You hit Play and the table loads and the Backglass loads and you have fun.

Good to see others building using B2S.

Nice work Bob, are you going to do some of your other tables also.

It's not really that hard to set up, if we can do it, anyone can.

Even better now that it has auto starting for VP.

It is a lot easier than it seems from the directions. It is a one time thing for any table using B2S backglass. It adds so much. Thanks to Bob for using the tech and thanks to Rosve for creating B2S.
Having a cabinet to play full screen pins is awesome! Check out my mini pin cab here on VPForums.

Very nice and fun! I love the B2S backglasses. Like Bob5453 says; once you get one working all the rest run perfectly. Really, not overwhelming at all. To have this all happen in the background I have Hyperpin use fplaunch 1.295 wip 2: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0YKF0JDI

This is from a post by Blur:
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
what's new:

big boss features - any exe file, sound levels, and hdrendering off for some games
file names are same as in bigboss code - only they are exepected to be in settings dir. not in database dir
So in setting dir you will have:
Settings.ini
vp908tables.txt
soundmodtables.txt
and hdrenderofftables.txt

vp908 file must have vp exe file name in next line after every table name
this allows you to use several exe files for your tables
main hyperpin exe doesn't have to be vpinball.exe any more, it can be anything, script won't mind

automatic closing of vbscript messges is added (for bent)
error messages are shown on the screen and then vp is closed
(vbscript message usually means game can go on and error message usually means no go)

script now reads logical and physical key state just in case

version is added in usage dialog box - double click on exe or ahk and you will see which version you have even if it is compiled

i have tested taskbar on windows xp and it is best to remove options allways on top and hide taskbar. then taskbar line will never appear over hp or over game

for win 7 ??? did not test much
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Hope this helps. I've found as a newbe that all the info is here just a bit scattered and sometimes hard to find.

Dave

EDIT: OK, like I said I'm a newbe. after rereading everything I guess the above FPlaunch doesn't really effect the B2S tables. However it did give me more controll on how the tables were set up when launched in my cab set up. Sorry for any confusion. Feel free to correct any statement I've made.

Dave

Once again Great Table Bob 5453!

Only .. when starting up (from HP or VP) I get a 'Line: 0' error when it tries to start the Game Scripts.
The same for the newly released 'KnockOut' Table .. not when starting up the new 'Jacks to Open'.

Anyone any suggestions? smile.gif

Cheers,
FD.

In the Table_Init routine, look for the instruction LaunchBackGlass "nnnn", true/false

"nnnn" must be the exact name of the backglass program (without the .exe")
Use True if you want the bg started by the table script. False if the bg is started by HP.

I'd like to see another Ghostbuster table, your table would be completely different from mine, I make rather simple tables, usually with lots of targets, and a very simple ruleset, I like simple tables from the 60's and 70's and I really like to hear those bells. smile.gif

@ DedRok_V, I would like to have some of my earlier tables working with the B2S active backglass, but to be honest, most of them don't look very good in FS, some have very low res images and they all are a little rough, even when I try to update them, they still look old. I use to not have to worry much about the top half of the playfield as you weren't going to be able to focus on it anyway in the old VP. Some of them have been updated so much, it's hard to figure out what I use in the script and what is just setting in there. smile.gif I would almost have to start them over from scratch to feel like they were worthy.

Blur added the B2S launching in the 1.294 version,
thats why it's not in what you posted for 1.295wip.

So yes it does effect the launching, see your not that much of a newbie smile.gif

In conclusion, use 1.294 or newer.

Thanks to Rosve for the backglass program, Blur for the launch and Bob for this table.

Thanks Rawd. I'm glad you say nice graphics as I still only use a max res of 1024, so I didn't think they would look so great in a cab. I work with pics off the net and I don't don't have any programs to enlarge the pics and maintain quality. I also have no luck in starting with really hi res pics and trying to make them smaller, they seem to lose more quality than they should when I reduce them to 1024.
