I pushed #8 key which was a advanced menu in the DMD and scrolling through some of the options it says that the ball troff is malfunctioning. I have no idea how to fix it, ran a cpu test etc through it and nothing. It lets me coin up to play but as i said no ball is loaded into the gulley for me to shoot it; it also blinks two zeros in the DMD window like it is indicating there is no ball(s)

any ideas?

I am running visual pinball 8x

Does it say that there's a problem as soon as you start the table, or only after you go through the #8 menu?
Maybe there's a wrong param in your nvram file; copy the attached .nv file into your nvram directory inside the VPinMAME directory, overwrite the file there, and try again.
Attached File  diner_l4.nv   2.04KB   13 downloads
Same for the 2nd file: unzip it and copy the .cfg file to the cfg subfolder of the VpinMAME directory, then try again.
Attached File  diner_l4.zip   403bytes   13 downloads

The bug starts as soon the table is loaded, when i woke up today my brother figured it out, all he did was press DEBUG WINDOW then closed and restarted the game and the game started working again. I thought i would post the fix in here in case anybody else has similar ball problems on the 8x visual pinball tables.

Hey guys,

Installed VP/FP for the first time a few days ago (I'm using Win 8 Consumer Preview on Dell Inspirion), but unfortunately tables from both the programs don't seem to work:(...

Problems on VP - No movement whatsoever/lights on the table after pressing 'Play', The ball can't be seen as well and the above fixes didn't work for me...

Problems on FP - Get an' Open GL running in software mode' error. Also asks to be run in 32 bit color mode when its my default configuration already:((...

Any fixes/drivers/patches would be greatly appreciated, thanks again!!!

First thing to try would be a more mature Operating System like Win7 instead of a Win8 Preview (!) which isn't even the Release version...

Did you run those as Admin?

Did you installed the graphics card drivers?

Did you installed the Direct X drivers?

MAME doesn't have this problem. I don't see why VP and PinMAME can't run on Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

(Note: Do not installed any cleaning programs on Windows 8 Consumer Preview because things will get broken. CCleaner or what ever. Driver Sweeper doesn't do the cleaning job as well because some of the stuff still there. Cleaning programs aren't full tested. You are taken a risk on re-installing Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Trust me. I tested those programs and it was a nightmare.)

if playing a vp8 table use vp8.
vp8 will play in vp9 but you might need to tweak the ball release, plunger and the gate a little for the bigger ball in vp9.
are you trying to play a vp8 table in a vp9 program?

I used the 'Reply' button under your post, then click'n'drag to highlight unwanted sections (one at a time---can't bridge over what is to be kept) and hit Delete.

There's more, but I found this nice video tute that'll save the world from my slow typing; hope it helps.

Yeah you can do it that way. been using the fast reply. drag and highlight what i want then copy/paste into the fast reply. either way works out the same.
