Difficult to say for certain, though my guess is it's designed to update VP from Direct X 7 to Direct X 9.

Files I have uploaded here...

Yeah, that's it. "DX9VPP Player - project will be merged with vp" - it's a side project working on something with DirectX9. It's being worked on by cupid, who's also on the VP dev team. I assume this will come into play sooner or later.

Very cool. Maybe this will allow for official 2nd monitor support?

Stay cool... first thing will be the proper 3d display of all table elements. No new features at first... this is a big project and while it's nearly reaching the 10,000th line, my holiday reaches the end.

Faralos: no, a dedicated player to play pinball in 3D (as suggested in the wish list). no Video recording or playback.

3d as in the glasses setup? with electronic ones or regular/ either way that would be so cool may get a bit of motion sickness at first though ... but it sounds cool...

Rawd is correct. It's a 'player', not an editor, that will run .vpt's in a fully 3D rendered environment.

I am assuming that most tables will need to be updated or made specifically for this?... as most VP models are just pictures or reels.

How will it be possible to make a 3D model with the current editor.. without making 1000 flat shapes.

Maybe, this will possible if the Dev team achieve the way to import meta-objects in VP editor, as X objects, or another way....make an option to mess entire collections of objects (walls and ramps), directly on VP.
UW, yes, Cupid is the man!!!!;)

Noah is right.

No, i hope that tables should not need to be updated. The engine can load all VPT files that are not encrypted (since i cannot get the decryption to work). But if you don't do strage things (like to forbid code view) it will be loadable.

They can look some kind of strange if EM Reels or walls are used as overlay on the table and you select another viewing angle or FS while playing, but they will hopefully be playable. I have an idea how to get this done, but i don't know if it will work for each and every table. But with the technique i have in mind, em-reels directly on the table object (like the disks in Whildwind, i think) will display fine. EM-Reels as overlay for real 3d objects (like bumpers) will display strange, but will not destroy the table. I will try to get the most out of it, but i can't perform magic on something that is a bad hack.

It won't be possible to load 3d objects in the editor at first, but the engine in it's current state is capable of displaying them (while they have to be loaded in a special way (only programming wise)).

BUT: it is in a very early stage. Don't expect new features and don't expect an exe within months. I will put out a 3d Table viewer (without playing, mame, etc.) at first, so you can see how the tables will look like.

The current sources are on the sourceforge site.
