File Name: JP's Avengers LE (Stern 2012)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 24 Dec 2019

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
thalamus
Siggi
Manufacturer: Stern
Year: 2012
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Based on the Stern table The Avengers Limited Edition from 2012

Thanks to thalamus for the playfiedl 3D mesh with the hole and for testing.

I built the table from scratch and I also made the graphics using images from comics from the late 60's and early 70's. It it started when I talked to thalamus 2 weeks ago, and he played The Avengers and he liked a lot, so I thought I should play it too, but the best way for me to learn a table is to build it myself :) There is already a nice Avengers table for VPX made by 32assassin, but I wanted to make a table with my own graphics, lighter than the real one, and I also wanted to make more visible some of the targets and lights. So I made a few changes to the layout. I also replace the bridge with a single gate which, when activated, will divert the ball to Hulk.

The table uses the Avengers LE ROM, get it from Stern, zip it, and rename the zip to avs_170h

Update 3.1.0: Thanks to Siggi for the new graphics, giving the table a more classic look.

Update 5.0.0 This update is only for VPX8, and there are too many changes only available in VPX8.

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

You have to navigate to the bottom and press "Game Code", remember that you need the LE version, NOT the pro.

Vous devez naviguer vers le bas et appuyer sur "Game Code", n'oubliez pas que vous avez besoin de la version LE, PAS du pro.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

I know you prefer the real look on the tables. I too do that, only that sometimes I don't like how they look :) To me the Avengers were those heroes I read about in the late 60's and early 70's. The new ones are only about looks and leather suits, I guess I'm getting old ;) So my goal was to make a fully playable table, 99% like the original, but with visible lights and targets, even the tesseract is transparent, with a white cube inside which brights up when the flasher is active :) The Thor and Shield targets are repositioned a little to make them more visible. I think I accomplished what I wanted to do. Anyway don't ask for miracles since I made it in just 2 weeks, I guess this says something about how good is VPX :)

This is pretty cool. Reminds me of what Stern did with the Spiderman table by releasing a version that used images from the comics.

JP's Avengers deserves its own custom backglass - anyone working on such?

Yes, I guess so :)

Ok, fixed the typo. It is the same table, even if it says it is updated, so no need to download it again  :)

Great work! Thanks JP.

Whipped up a wheel PNG for it this morning to distinguish it from the other version.

Normally I don't re-post links to other sites. But, I'll make an exception since this matches this comic recreation http://vpuniverse.co...le-stern-2012/

Great work as usual by Wildman.

UPDATE!

1.0.1 Updated 27.12.2019
- Fixed the possibility of the ball getting stuck at the top of the flippers.
- changed the DMD in the desktop view to use a flasher, which can be easily moved or made transparent like a hologram.

I don't know if many you desktop users prefer to have the DMD at the center on top of the table. like this:

To move the DMD there and make it like a hologram you need to do:

- move the DMD flasher object to the center position

- scale it to about 0,8

- change the modulate of the flasher from 1 to 0,9

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:
