Hi All,

I've got an almost fully functioning setup after a good weeks non-stop tinkering, reinstalling and re configuring.

One thing I have not been able to do though despite many hours of trying is determine why my F1 key when in a table on VPX does not open the options which would allow me to check "use external DMD". i've tried every combo on my keyboard i can think of with F1, and had a good look through all the key mapping options I have and for settings that may perhaps disable this feature but I have come up empty.

Can someone give me some advice? I have the Diablo table running with UltraDMD, but the Stranger things table although it loads the backglass i can't get the DMD to work and I suspect this is the reason why.

Kind Regards,

Comortle1928

In VPX if you want to see popup dialog boxes, you need to temporarily turn off Exclusive Fullscreen in the video Preferences

Stranger a thing does not use a rom setting, so F1 does not apply.

Thanks,

I am not using exclusive full screen - I saw this answer in another post but it did allow me to bring up the F1 menu.

I tried different screen rotations and table resolutions thinking perhaps it was in the background and not showing up on alt tab but i haven't had luck yet. Any other ideas?

If F1 F3 F6 etc isnt working, then either
1) You are in explusive fullscreen mode and just cant see it
2) Your VPX installation is kinda hosed and needs fixed

in in lieu of doing that

Run setup.exe from vpinmame folder

pick the rom and click game settings

I am trying to run some tables in VPX - when running the table the game wasn't running its audio, so I pressed f1. 'Use Sound' was unchecked so I selected it and entered 0 then f3 to reset. After reset the game works fine with all audio. When I exit out of VPX and try to start the game again, my changes to the ROM settings aren't saved, meaning I need to press f1 every time I open the game to activate the sounds... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

are you sure the table script is not setting sound to 0 and then not setting it back to 1 on table exit?

what exact table is this?

Or is it happening on ALL table?

Hello. I am also having the DMD issue. I tried to run setup from vpinmame then I went to test but the games were not on the list. To be specific it is game of Thrones, Sonic Pinball Mania and Fairy Favors. I can not access the options through f1 f3 or f6 on any of these games. This is a fresh install too. I used the 7.2 installer then updated to 10.8 or whatever the latest is. I then installed flexdmd and then downloaded dmdext x86 dll and 64 dll and placed them in the vpin mame folder. I also made sure to register both flex dmd and ultra dmd. I have no idea how to tell these 3 games to use a dmd.dll instead of the default dmd. I am also not in exclusice full screen either. I am using the open gl version at a resolution of 3839x2159 so i can actually see any sort f dmd in bordered window mode.

They are not in the list because these tables do not use ROMs, they are not VPinMame tables,

if there are possibilities to modify the options this is specified by the authors on the support page of the table.

I did find a way by going into default settings in vpinmame setup. It still did not work. I am not going to waste anymore time on it as I just deleted those tables in question. Anything else that gives me a hard time is done as well. I appreciate the speedy response. Thank you.

I guess you didn't understood kiwi. Those table do not use vpinmame, they are original tables, there are no options that can be accessed with those keys. The only options are the ones you may find in the script, if the author has added any options. The DMD's on those tables may use FlexDMD, Pup or something else, but not vpinmame as they use no roms.

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

Yes I was lost. Reinstalled everything today including the backglass server which I ignored last time. Everything seems to be working. Also got my new dmd to stick to the back glass without disappearing by checking no force focus in the backglass menu. I just need to find a pup player I can install without ruining my setup. I would use baller installer but it completely borks my DMD.
