I swear I saw a table by JP that said (or indicated??) you could simply download the table file and play it outright with no other installations necessary, but now I can't find it and I'm not sure if I misunderstood it. I would love to just be able to post a link to download my table for anyone to just "plug and play" without having to find the latest file on VP 10.8 on github or something, which basically scares away EVERYone outside of the niche community itself. Not a big deal, but I'd love to know it's possible to just double click a file and play the table. I'm very much an amateur so if this is laughably impossible, I wouldn't be surprised hahahah. No stupid questions, right?

All my original and EM tables can be played just using VPX. Versions 4 and 4.3 are VPX7 tables, and the ones with the name VPX8 in the filename are for VPX8.

These means that original tables like Deadpool, Ghostbusters Slimer, Serious Sam, Legend of Zelda, and many more, can be played just with VPX when playing in desktop mode. The DMD is made with flashers, so there is no need for FlexDMD. And since they are originals they don't use Roms, so you don't need VpinMame either.

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

Never heard of this before.

Maybe it was something about the Android version called "standalone"?

A long time ago,...(In a galaxy far far away...lol seems like a very long time ago!)

an F1 racing table was released that was self contained.

No need to install anything.

Since this table used a rom, it was quickly requested to be taken down by IP Holder.

(This is why we do not include roms with the tables, and hence why we have a roms section.)

I have this table somewhere in my collection.

This was the only table that I have heard of that was self contained. (No install of anything needed.)

This table was made by Black, (The guy who made Future Pinball), and Stein.

It was made back in 2002! (22 years ago! Geez!)

Here is old link...(It still works!)

I brought up the same question many years ago.

I was going to try this using PortableApps program, which is a program that allows you to create Portable Apps.

But I never got around to it.

Should be doable.

Yeah that's exactly the type of thing I was thinking of! It's no big deal if it's not common, just a pipe dream. That's amazing that it's possible though.

That F1 table didn't use the normal VP, but it used a special version of VP which Black was working on. It had dome flashers, which the current VP didn't have. So Black compiled his VP and included his table. So, that table was a very special table. This is not something we can do with the current VP

Yes, you can see how he added GFX, Music and Sounds package libraries, similar to his Future Pinball method.

It is a very special, and one of a kind table! (A nice hidden treasure that is part of VP History!)

This was the only instance that I could remember where the table played right out of the box, with no installs needed.

I would imagine it would be very hard to achieve these days.
