Hi all

I really hope someone can help here as I have no idea how to solve this.

So I built a mini cab, using pinup Popper and Visual Pinball and everything has been working great.

Went to use the cab and found my buttons controlling popper were doing weird things, basically not working properly ar all.

Exited rebooted windows tried games directly in VP and everything works fine, so I know my USB encoder is working fine.

Went into popper settings, button config and it said I had a button conflict.

Notice : Duplicate bindings found
Duplicate keyboard binding function
Exit emulators.

I tried clearing all my saved keys which works, but the message remains, so all buttons are locked to Exit Emulators, so none of my buttons can control anything.

I un-installed popper, restarted windows, did a clean popper install, error still there, disconnected USB Encoder, error still there.

So I'm completely at a loss as to how to get rid of this error.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers Alan

PS I'm running the latest release of popper if that has any baring, although it was working fine before so!

Hi Alan,

since V.1.5 popper has this duplicate bindings error out of the box, thats not a great thing.

I haven't been able to work around this error to configure the button assignments in a way that makes sense.

I have configured the main buttons in this way, the keys configured in pinscape must fit

  • exit emulators: Q
  • menu return: Q
  • system menu: ESC
  • menu/system exit: X

I have described this rather in detail in my recent published docu.

Hi Man

Thank for the information, really helpful and appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Checked the link to see how you have configured things, does`nt really help me as I`m not using pinscape just a cheap USB encoder, so still could`nt see how to fix my problem as I still have no way to set my cab buttons.

Out of more frustration and wanting the damn thing working, I downloaded PinballX frontend

I had a working system running in 10 mins, no more grey hairs :)

So for now I`m sticking with this, it all appears to be working fine, all the media updated automatically from the Net so am very happy.

Cheers ;)

I just want to confirm that I have had the same issue with Pinup Popper ever since upgrading to latest 64-bit release. I have "Duplicate Joystick Binding function" and "Duplicate Keyboard Binding function" error messages on some entries, even though the entries show as being cleared to default.

Also, the new Popper 64-bitt reads some (but not all) controller buttons with incorrect numbers. For example, a controller button which shows as #1 in both Windows game controller panel, in VPX and in other tools like JoyToKey, reads as #25 in Popper.

I'm going to try to work around this as @fhjui suggests by mapping the buttons I need so they also generate keystrokes (using JoyToKey) and just set Popper to look for those keystrokes.

@markran: yes, I have configured all buttons like keys from a keyboard. never used a tool like joytokey or something. I assume you haven't used a pinscape board?

I am astonished that popper should be 64bit. When I look up the file properties, the tool shows "32bit architecture" and no large address aware, for Pinupplayer.exe and pupmenu.exe. But that doesn't matter here.

Yes, the key assignments are really hard to understand/configre so that they work well. Please look at my documentation chapter "15.6.2 Adjusted key assignment in controller setup" where the complete buttonlist is shown. With these assignments all parts work well, including FP.

Thank you all for the replies.

Since my original post in March I've stuck with pinballx, and had zero issues.

I may take a look at popper again in the future if this annoying bug is fixed.

But I have a smooth running system so may just stick with X

I'm surprised the developer of pinup Popper is not on this issue immediately!

Cheers Alan
