For King Kong I redrew everything from scratch.  Nothing came from this site. (nor did it originally)  I found all the pictures out on the interwebs old fashion style..  Guess I'm an oddity   ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  Not everyone steals from just this site.  ;-) .... just sayin.

I don't feel to bad about not getting any respect anymore..  I honestly am just building for myself.  Trust me, I didn't spend 6 months and well over a 1000 hours for you guys.

I don't mind getting the chance to say thanks Cyberpez for your efforts and they are appreciated, I keep gravitating back to your version of RAB, so thanks !!!

There is a solution to this and its just to start making original tables!

I have more respect for the originators of a table then I do any MOD, the MOD tables are utilizing something that someone else has created and trying to improve on it (sometimes with mixed results)

if I drew a moustache on the mona lisa... I wouldn't get credit for the mona lisa! and I think that's the clear distinction that needs to be made when an mod author publishes a table.

It's not that clean cut. Remaking an entire table(recreating all the art, placing everything, coding) just so you can change the lighting, swap parts out/in or tweak things is not needed. Not only that but a lot of tables pull from the same pool of resources so wanting full remakes instead of mods is sort of not feasible in many instances.

Its always going to be a discussion of how many changes does it take to be called a MOD(at least one worth posting) or when that modder begins to be able to have say in what they've created and aren't held to someone else standards or feelings.

Some MODs are an extreme improvement over the original. Full art redraws, new lighting and physics you name it.. so there is a lot more nuance to it then - mods suck and only originals are worth checking out and liking... and most things in this VP are mods of mods of mods of mods.. its just how it rolls 90% of the time.

BOBknife.png

A change log is always a good thing but to a point.. if you tweak 1000 settings instead of listing each piece you tweaked(if you can even remember after being drunk at 4am or whatever lol) you just put, tweaked the physics..

Its like describing a dream.. the dream could of been hours but you can often boil it down to a few sentences.. and the person hearing your description has no real idea of what took place even if you try to tell them lol

Its all supposed to be fun :) so relax everybody and try not to let things like this bother you so much, its not worth it on any end :)

I'm just going to set this here and go get a cup of coffee.. DONT TOUCH ANYTHING!! :pardon:  NOT MY LINKS BUT ENJOY

if your modding a table drunk at 4am you probably got bigger issues than VPX tables. :P

but in all honesty a change log is not that hard to maintain... I mean I get it but like I said you make a few changes to a table you don't suddenly own all the credit, the authors of the table being modded need to also remember this and need to understand that the "leeches" don't care who is credited and it wouldn't matter what your name was on the table, but their are some who DO take note of who it is that is pushing out quality content and give respect where respect is due.

One thing I've noticed about people drawing from these pools of resources are that they aren't the ones drunk at 4am forgetting to mention it in the script.

but yeah I mean I'm not hating, it's more stuff to play on and have fun with but if theres an option to allow mods or not and I publish my first one it will be a definite no mods allowed with the current state of affairs.

my own art, IP, music and sounds... problem being no one will want to play it because it doesn't have a movie license LMAO.

I can say with confidence that the example table script is at the core of at least 90% of current releases, and without it, they wouldn't even run. The script is everything, the rest is Lego.  Have a look at AMH script if you want to see original. It's been a blessing that the scripts are so similar, because there's umpteen different ways of doing everything else. So, how "original" stuff is is debatable. Hooray for JP's Fading Lights!

You might be surprised.. a lot of good stuff can happen when its a few hours past midnight and your slightly foggy..

Some say its negligent, some say its the magic hour lol ;)

...now the bad news is you might lose a piece of a finger or something but good news is you wont notice till later.

F that. Quite often I do all nighters then carry on, that's how I get stuff done, stoned off my box though, wouldn't be able to do it drunk.

Trouble with al-kuhl is it actually makes you stupid and lazy and lowers your vibes.

Hi all - I wondered if anyone in this community may have an idea as to what the issue is with my South Park pinball, please.

I've asked on Pinside & the UK Pinball forum, but thought some of you guys here may understand the audio files or switch triggers on this game in more depth.

When pressing the start button, my game does not play the audio "Hey there children" "Hey Chef" despite the LED inserts flashing when this should occur.
On starting a game it plays the music, then eventually I hear "Kick the baby" only.
I have replaced all the audio roms for new from Pinball-Center, that's U7/U17/U27/U36/U37 and have alternated with game roms v1.03, v1.00, v0.96 and also display roms v1.00 & v1.01.

A user on Pinside manually tested the shooter lane switch and this isn't the physical switch trigger for the audio. If this is in fact audio triggered by a physical switch.

Thank you kindly

Issue now resolved, the shooter lane switch was too far forward on my game. The switch was being released instead of held down for the hey there children, hey chef audio to play out. So the game was reacting as if the ball was being immediately plunged, meaning the kick the baby audio was overriding the start game call out.
