Hello, I get the error message "Could not create texture offscreen surface" + a crash of VP on a couple of tables.
Fullscreen tables Bram Stoker's Dracula, Dr Dude, Judge Dredd, Party Zone, Star Trek TNG and Theatre Of Magic.
Got a GT440 with 2GB DDR3, WinXp64bit, 8GB DDR3, dual monitor setup cabinet (26"+18,5"), VP912
Other tables (62) run fine and smooth. Sometimes when loading tables in VP I get the same error, sometimes when I launch them (from VP) I get the error. When launching from HyperPin they never crash, excluding the mentioned tables, which crash every time after the error msg.
What could be the reason?

btdt,
imo,
its the RAM speed.
RAM is not all the same.
invest in higher speed RAM.
i run 3.37gs DDR2 4600-6400 on a less than mid level 2.2 single core.
no z error here.
i did have occasional z errors before i installed the correct RAM and speed.
btw, close after every table and restart.
dont go table to table.

I'm only guessing, so bear with me.
In Visual Pinball at the top click Preferences > Video Options.
What is the Max Texture Dimension set to? Given your specs, I would use Unlimited, but try a smaller setting just to see if the problem straightens out or happens more often with other tables that had no problem. If the latter happens, then if it is not selected, try selecting the Unlimited setting.

Under Performance, try checking or Unchecking Hardware Device Rendering and be sure to then close and re-open Visual Pinball before trying both new settings in Play mode.

Check the Alpha Ramp Slider and try sliding it to the left (for Performance = when encountering errors).

Under Options > Table > Colors and Formatting, be sure to Uncheck the Cache Rendered Tables box just in case it is checked on the problem tables. Do this before trying anything else.

They are high res tables.
As sleepy said, change from unlimited to 1024 in your Preferences > Video Options.

If it still doesnt work, you can get images from the low res desktop version and import the images from that table to the FS version.

You shouldnt have problems with that card though.

the problem is 2gb limit on vpinball because is a 32bits program, i recomend you to use NTCore 4gb patch to solve this issue on all pinballs. This program patch vpinball.exe and no more offscreen surface errors.

Thanks! The 4GB patch seems to have done the trick!

Was playing around with the "max texture dimension" earlier and found 2048 to work the best.

I had other HiRes tables running without problems so it shouldn't have been a resolution problem. Or are these tables over the top HiRes?

My RAM is 1333MHz DDR3 btw.
