there is a big difference between ignoring and not here

only a small amount of people have VR
you have to wait for those people to come by
unless you want those of us that dont have VR to just make up answers that wont work?

Gamemodder,

I’ve limited succes with creating a text box or flasher object, and then using the editor to assign it to display DMD. Look at some tables that display DMD in VR and you’ll figure it out. Sometimes I can’t get it to work though. Still learning myself!

no not in the backglass file itself
in b2s settings
i am not sure if it helps or makes any difference to try changing backglass resolution in there or not
like trying to make it shorter, or maybe changing the Y pos etc?

hopefully one of the VR guys will pop in soon and might have an answer

I think I mite be able to "cheat' it in by shrinking the image and messing with stuff like that but I think there is a better way after sniffing around..

I need to dive into the VR only tables and some FSS tables and see how they are orienting and adjusting the backglass position.. I think some where you said it may be done via script stuff and I think you may be onto something.. As I have done A LOT of trial and error in the editor just moving stuff and seeing if I can get the right thing to move the backglass and no joy.. so its somewhere else I think..

I need to check out the blank VR rooms people made and see if they have some instructions about it when creating a VR room table..

would be cool if Caligula could maybe add a backglass position adjustment to VPX VR.. sort of like the table adjust with the num-pad keys but for just the backglass position in VR when using a normal table and B2S..

would essentially make 90% more tables able to run in VR enjoyably.. you could fire up the table then key in a better b2s position..

can somebody please help me?

everyone is ignoring me.

what table are you trying to get going, link? and I'll see if I can get you going.. try F1 during game play and see if messing with the show DMD settings to get one on your screen is the best I can do for right now until I gots more info :) not ignoring just busy lol and yeah VR is sorta ULTRA niche in an already niche hobby so gains come slowwwwwwww..

NEW QUESTION:

In the editor is there a way to show ONLY flashers or ONLY lights  regardless of what layers they may be on.. sort of like a show only primitive or show only ramps.. anything like that?.. just might make finding certain things easier when trying to explore a really packed editor on a busy table..

EDIT > select object
You can sort that list by type

So you can see all flasher objects

In general though, the FSS DMD screen will be sitting in that pile of flashers that make up the FSS backbox assembly

sitting above the top end of the table

In FSS, the backglass and DMD and backglass lights etc are composed of flashers.

You are more than welcome to look at heavy metal or close encounters
if you look at them with VP7, the FSS components are in their own labeled layer
Plus the parts are named accordingly

Might help you get an idea of the assembly.

Maybe VR tables use a similar thing for backglass? I am not sure, do not have VR hardware to even mess around with it

Yeah that pile can get crazy lol that sorting tip should be super handy so thank you.

I do remember back when VR first came out we were all swimming out into the abyss just trying stuff out and we did figure out the DMD flasher thing.. and that got me thinking and Caligula did mention back then that VPX VR does do something with the b2s "grill" position and that's how it guessed at orienting the b2s in space in VR.. but that was like 2 years ago lol so maybe something there.. I think I tried messing with the grill stuff in the b2s editor but couldn't make it make a difference..

When using a normal .vpx table and b2s its the "VR" program "guessing" and placing the captured image of the displaying b2s thus making it look like your regular table in VR now has a back glass.. so off hand it may be impossible for me to adjust as its a hardcode deal in VPX VR maybe..

BUT I could edit a regular table and add in a back glass flasher like an FSS table.. at least that's where Im at in my thinking after going over it.. but thats still alot harder then it sounds lol

Im hoping maybe Calig or someone who knows the VR part of the program functions and does its thing can maybe come up with an easy adjustment method..

Making an FSS backbox is not hard per se, just tedious
And for a DMD table, not super tedious

For an older SS table or EM table, a lot more tedious, but that is due to the scoring displays

and needing a lot of little pieces

For a modern DMD type table though, it is fairly simple

I learned how by taking one of JP's tables apart, Hawkman

Heavy Metal and Close Encounters both use segmented LED's to display score
so you will see that my backbox has a flasher piece for every segment of every digit
HM is a hybrid bastard of a never existed table, it has both DMD and LEDs

(which you can copy and paste to other tables by the way, copy and paste the entire FSS backbox into another table
copy and paste the needed code sections, which i think i did label, change the graphics images as needed, and some minor adjusting)

For a DMD table, you could look at heavy metal, and ignore EVERYTHING pertaining to the LED segments
Ignore as in just delete everything pertaining to them, objects and code

You just need the backbox parts, and the code pertaining to the proper placement and rotation of the parts.

DMD tables are really easy to make FSS, and once you have one, you can copy all the parts and the code into
an empty table and just save it as FSS backglasses, so you can always copy and paste into other tables
add graphics, and done.

so I'm officially back into vpvr with a new headset and pinsim controller.  I have a few questions as I see differing opinions.
What version of the app should i be using for the smoothest play?

What are the graphic settings that truly matter?  I see vpx settings and vr setting.  Does the resolution in either matter?  Anything else I should be aware of to get the smoothest play?  I have a reverb 2 and would like to get 90hz for motion - how is that achieved?

I have 2080ti 8600k. Should be enough for best smooth settings right?

Thanks everyone!  This thing is awesome!

Got pretty much the same setup. Sadly no pinsim controller though, that would be awsome.
I use this but it's pretty much standard though.
When you open windows mixed reality portal press bottom left with those 3 dots, then headsetscreen > best image quality > 4320x2160 (best quality) > 90Hz.
Then it should run at 90hz always with best image quality. And with these settings my 3060Ti runs it very smooth.

Ah, finally found an active forum for us VR users ;) G2 here. The tables in VR are totally awesome. Getting the VR-ready tables working was easy thanks to the all-in-one installer. Getting the dmds working on non-vr ready tables took me more work, had to figure that out by looking at other tables with working dmds and see how that was done in the editor.

But getting tables with puppacks working in VR.. I think it took me an hour of 10 to get those finally working. Most tutorials are either outdated or incomplete.. there was a new tool released to keep the pupvideos on top but in the end that tool turned out to actually be the cause of things not working correctly.

Hi guys, I have a couple of things to share with you:

1-

Yesterday was revealed a new VR project pinball from zen studios (star wars on VR), I would prefer a fx3 vr version but it is a good news.

2-

regarding real pinball world, I saw Tim Arnold is looking for funds to let him finish the mega project he started to move his pinball museum hall of fame to a new bigger building.

I think it is a national treasure people living in USA and a good place to visit for all of us foreingners.

Just wanted to say thanks to the team working on this. This needs to be in every VR owner's library.

I was able to pick up a used Lenovo Explorer with a broken headstrap (fixed for now) for $70. Even with this mere reference windows MR headset, it's just awesome. While the limitations of the headset's resolution are apparent, there's nothing else to be desired. I combined it with a MAME controller I built a few years back with buttons in the right places for pinball, but I know that I'll be ordering the PinSim electronics to gain the nudge, plunger, and feedback electronics installed as well.

Attack From Mars has inspired me to do a playroom for Twilight Zone, but I'll have to brush up on my 3D modeling to make what I've got in mind.

When you say feedback electronics, you don't mean force feedback do you? I know it would work with the Zen Studios game, but I was under the impression you couldn't easily do force feedback with VP and VR? Am I wrong on this? Cause I would happily upgrade to PinSim if it meant easy force feedback in VP X.

PaulG.  For VPX you can have force feedback. In fact you can even mount real Stern Shaker motors, solenoids etc in your cabinet and have it controlled by the ROM.   Just search Google for  "VPX DOF" and you will find lots of info on it.

The other option for force feedback in VPX is SSF.   This is much easier to set up and can give you great results.   Basically what this is doing is separating the ROM audio and the Mechanical sounds so that you can have speakers, bass shakers and or exciters connected to their own amps that are installed in your cab for force feedback.    Google "VPX SSF"  to read about it.

Also,

The reason why there are not that many people responding here these days is because there is a FaceBook group for VPX VR where there are almost 1,000 members now and most of the conversations are there currently.

Why should people come here? Why not go to vpinball or vpuniverse?
Everyone has their preferences. I don't like FB either, but I'm still there, because there are several wonderful pinball groups with nice members.
And there are great informations. I haven't registered on FB with my real data and I don't give any information about myself in my profile.

 Why do people use anything?

Because they do, they are not forcing you to go there or anything.

I don't use facebook, and no one from FB has showed up at my door to do me bodily harm because i dont use their site.

Not really sure how you can refer to them as facecrook, it is not like you pay them for anything.
They would kind of have to steal your money or something to be considered a crook i think?
They can not even steal your data, considering you do not have to actually give them any, You could register as Uncle Stinky from Dubai

Though that may not be a good choice as i would foresee a lot of invites to pedophile groups headed your way

Of course people can do what they want. I just wish they didnt want to use Facebook lol and by "come here" I meant just use one of the "main" VP sites.. I like vpforums probably the most for communicating as its the most active and has lots of good people with good advice..

Facebook sucks. They are crooks. I have lost money over Facebook and Oculus so yeah I do not like that company.. Basically lost my Oculus account for no reason a few years back and they wont really do anything to help.. had to get stern to come in and give me my pinball games back on their end.... They steal data hand over fist.. They lie to courts.. They extort sovereign countries... They are hypocritical clowns... Zuck is just another Madoff, hes got a high end extortion/ponzi scheme going.. they control the "user" numbers.. they control the reported add rolls.. they can lie to investors or people running adds and no one will be able to say otherwise.. and high end investors aren't going to pull and expose the scheme.. at least just yet..

Anyway. Different strokes folks... Facebook sucks. If you dig it, great..
