If you already have a cab, can you use existing cab buttons to control VR gameplay?

Just in case someone has the same problem:

I've just managed TZ working with visible backglass (static) and DMD working into the backglass.

The only thing I had to do was ticking the checkbox 'Test in Desktop' from backdrop options.

Yes you can, and also you can line it up perfectly. Slydog43 was able to line up his pin-stubby to the VR table perfectly. And he made the buttons and plunger react in VR when you hit the real ones as well. Very cool effect.

As some people do not want to share their progress at the moment, here is mine (again): Primitives seem to be the way to go for the game room. Textures are there, dmd is there and translite is there. Just the backbox disappeared. Have to find out why. Colors on texture and translite arent accurate yet. Have to find out how to get the backbox back in the game.

@Caligula_ : Great to see you. Is it possible that the dmds position and size are hardcoded in this? I tried to change the backdrop options, added lines to the script and made changes in the registry. Nothing did anything to the dmd values. Japdos maybe has a way to fix this. Have to find out.

I have the Virtuapin controller in my cab and keep it's PC outside the cab. So I just got a USB extension cord and connected it to my VRPC. Then I have run the Controller utility software to the status page and move the plunger one time to activate it on the VRPC. Strangely I don't have to do that on MY Cab normally.

I have the position of the VR rendering set to where my Cab is, so I just stand at the cab with the HMD (headset) on to use the controls.

I haven't loaded VPVR on my Cab yet, because to work, the HMD has to be connected to the HDMI port of the PC and boots to it first, then loads the PC's monitor.

And I have Direct B2s activated on the Cab, don't know if that would cause any problems.

On the Dedicated VR-PC I installed VP with the 10.5 all-in-one installer and at the end it loads the B2s files, but asks if you want to activate it. Since I only have 1 monitor on that PC I said no.

I think I got it. We probably just need another object for the backbox. I added a simple floor and a wall and it makes a difference. Godrays are gone and the immersion is better.

Just trying to get doflinx to run. Not that easy for a newbie like me.

Good Point!

I guess you could connect the HDMI port to a Large screen TV for others to see, It's a dual image but clear to see. Then pass the HMD headset from player to player, If your having a tournament some will be playing other Real pins concurrently anyway? :clnglasses: (we need a Emoji with a HMD headset instead of glasses) :dblthumb:

Oh, by the way I just tried the Banzai Run beta FSS table in VR, looks good and the alphanumeric display worked too.

Been trying some more tables in VR. The DMD worked in these:
LOTR
JP's Ironman
TZ
Elvis
Batman DK

However on:
Black Rose, Johnny Mnemonic and TSPP
the VR HMD  screen blinks the image on and off every second, and on the PC screen the table seems to be moving position slightly with the HMD still.
I'm using the Vive HMD
Can some one else please try these tables and see if they get the same reaction?

Just tried TSPP, dmd works flawless (just isnt in the correct position).

At the moment the backglass and the DMD are hard coded. The backglass is 20% wider than the table and the DMD is placed in the center of the db2s grill area with 50% height of it. You can change the grill height with the B2S Backglass Designer, but this changes not only the position, but also the size of the DMD.

Thanks for the response! Going to check that today. Is it possible to make those changes for single tables?

Japdos maybe found a solution, have to wait his response?

Hopefully you swing back on the ship soon. We already made a nice progress but still need you here.

Animated backglass, support for alphanumeric displays, a recenter button and a hardcoded game room (with texture options) incl a complete cab and an option for other objects would be nice stuff.

Rumble for Pinsim will be probably there in some weeks, when our friend DDH69 has the time to finish this for us. Some steps are already made.

You can also use the SteamVR preview window (Headset Mirror) on the big screen and choose one eye only for display.

@RYSr: Does the playfield in the backbox even work?

Hey Ron, I was referring to the PC's monitor, and Replacing it with a large screen TV connected to the PC's HDMI port.

Been trying some more tables in VR. The DMD worked in these:
LOTR
JP's Ironman
TZ
Elvis
Batman DK

Thanks for the feedback, I was using TSPP dated 4/6/18, is that the one you tested? Not sure who the Author was.

What make of headset are you testing with?

You can also use the SteamVR preview window (Headset Mirror) on the big screen and choose one eye only for display.

On regular VR programs I can see the running APP as well as the Mirror window on the PC's screen, but on VRVP it only displays the headset images. I'll have to try using alt-tab and see if it will allow me to see only the mirror window . Good Idea!

Everything that's amazing about VP and VR is combined in that table.

Watching this thread the last few days at the outstanding efforts taking place, you guys totally rock. All this is entirely above my station, im only a player and a long time fan of VP.

One comment that did catch my attention, it is so correct about the true physics of VP being fully realised in VR. The roll of the ball always impressed me in VP from 9 onward, seeing it now in VR and you can fully see how the ball replicates the sharp dead nature of one zipping around on a real modern machine.

Thanks for all you efforts, this all very much appreciated.

Sorry could not record gameplay (I was using oculus mirror & shadowplay)

Quality in the headset is much higher than the video shows.

Looks great! Just tired the new V2 table and it plays great! My guess is by having the room rendered that also reduces the god rays on the headset.
