Hey baloo42, teasers looking great.
Thanks for trying out physmod5. I don't know what exactly was that disappointed you with pm5, but maybe you should just give it another try. After all pm5 is the basis for vpx physics. I'm no expert but I can say that pm5 tables feel more realistic to me, especially with the flippers.
Maybe just try one of the very fine pm5 conversions around and compare it directly to its vp9 version.
And make sure to use the latest pm5 version from mjr.
Anyway, the original did play great in vp9, so I'm am already happy with the awesome looks you are providing.

Hey mpad, thank you for the compliment and i appreciate you coming back on the topic.
i found mjr here, but there are no files on his page:

i have tried a few PM5 tables. One of the biggest problems i'm having is the ball-friction on the table is too much, and there are no effective ways to counter that. i find the bumpers impossible to configure as i push the gravity and drop the friction to try counter this anomaly. The flippers also give a lot of shots to the middle of the table, and with the nudge is barely in effect, leading to center ball-drops, well, Balrog will eat you for breakfast ![]()
What i like about physmod: the gravity-feel is good, and the ball-spin i like.
But to me, the overall play does not compete
with Vp9. Try my new Bounty Hunter that i just released, there you can sample some decent VP9 physics. You can target some good shots, almost any shot, the flippers now have more response time. It further gives you the ability to 'jump-pass' the ball between flippers, similar to how you see the pros do it in the youtube vids (using the underside of the slingshot as a bumper).
In LOTR, JPSalas has even scripted in a "speed-timer" OMG! This means i can now control the max-ball speed on the table.
This small factor makes a big impact to overall gameplay, you will now manage
to control the multi-balls better than before. In this next
update for LOTR you can literally play-on forever on a single
ball, everything is now chanelled. But yeah, you have to be darn good too!
Mpad, if you want i can publish Bounty Hunter with physmod. or maybe i send the table to you, you can try tweak it to play better, and then send it back to me?
There are forums i can point you to where people have discussed the many issues with PM5. Apparently there are ways to amend it's shortcomings with the knowledge of scripting. well mpad, that is not going to happen, i can't script, simply put. (i can read script to an extent and edit it, i have some .html understanding, but i can't write code)
This is how it is, unless we get some helping hands here, i can't do much more. atm, i'm going at this solo. But with a lot of community support helping me along the way, which is really why you are playing
the tables you see now. i'm only two months a member. Even you are helping me right now. (Just keep in mind that physmod was an open-source development, and was basically the beta for VPX physics)
i know this is a long explanation, but i believe physics are an important aspect to consider, even more-so than graphics.
But either way, this next
table i think you will enjoy, and it will play well.
much thanks,
baloo

Progress on LOTR: we're doing good, progress is steaming ahead. There's still a lot of work to do, and i have promised all the FS-users a version too.
Also, i really want to give the desktop users a cool backdrop this time, i saw a picture of it in my head the other day, it's going to be awesome!
There are so many new surprises in-store for the update, too many to name.
So guys, please be patient with me, i will be posting more screenshots on the progress. Will be trying to get the new update out by between Mid-week and Friday, let's get the job done properly this time. Stay tuned! ![]()

Oooph good news! i was thinking about all the tables that have been mentioned on forums.
And then the one came to mind which people have always so highly praised.
"Attack From Mars" - yet another JP masterpiece.
So i went ahead on gave it another spin, and yeah, it's that good!!
I've now tweaked LOTR as best i could using that as a template. i'm happy to say that Multi-ball is even better now!
Again, i had a hard-time putting the game down, that's when i know we have reached the right spot.
Sooo. This Wednesday comes LOTR beta....
Note: it will indeedbe a BETA release, the graphics will not be finalized, but indeed playable, and i will push out both formats. Plus, you will get a chance to tryout the newgameplay.
Reason why the graphics will be in beta, is because i have rethought the process on how to bring you guys the real deal!
I have had some time to think about this today, and after re-releasing Bounty Hunter, and seeing some of Scapino's VP8 tables again. i came to a conclusion on what needs to be done.
Today, Google proved more useful than ever, and I have all the necessary material i need to take this to the next level. i even have a 30min video at 1080 dpi which i will integrate into the photos.

Here is a link to a gameplay video to give you some tips on the LOTR strategies: (and in general, just good player-tips)
This is actually the video i used to get the game feeling right.

Hahah, man is that you playing
? That is so crazy-cool to see you rocking the table! Priceless, thank you Shawn. That means a lot.
Your DMD, yeah DEFINITELY! let's do it. You just became a co-author!
The added graphics are a bonus. And the wording and numbers have good distinction.
i'll add it to the upcoming version for sure.
Thanks

I was being nice while playing because I had that camera balanced precariously on the Star Trek next to my Vpin. Normally I shake the crap out of games!
Looking forward to your final FS release, we can't wait!
Btw, those colors look terrible because of the camera. There's very little distinction between tones. In real life it looks 100% nicer.

OH my! You OWN a Star Trek table!!!
Man, i could have mistaken the video for an arcade, so cool to see you enjoying LOTR. Thank you!
Just to confirm with you, this is the DMD i downloaded last-night. Is this the one?

No, that's not it. What you downloaded was a dmd video for the front-end (PinballX-Hyperpin). What I did was simply change the colors of the DMD. On the newest pinmame (Sam/Unity/PinDMD) it allows you to individually color each shade of the DMD. So for LOTR I used Gold (not yellow) at 100%, Orange at 66%, Red at 33% and Black at 0%. Only takes a minute to change, but can take a good while to choose the appropriate colors!

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL PLAYERS:
We need everyone in on this ... all the players, come and speak your mind.

- The 1st image is the ball travelling down the in-lane
- A: Ball lost - as per the real LOTR table and standard flipper angles.
- B: Ball save
B will make the game easier as you would manage to time your shots better, you will make it longer through a multi-ball session.
A is the real table.
Voting stops tomorrow evening, where LOTR beta will be uploaded. ![]()
The choice is yours ...

NO GUYS!!!!!! you really have to stop this now.
you can't go posting images like this on my threads, we really can't have this.
i mean, what about all the girls i have met on this site, they're going to be upset seeing things like this!

hey, can anyone here sing the Canadian national anthem?
Nice one Steve! Shot Frenetic!
Steve, i'll give you double-D for anime hahah, awesome!
Fren, trick question, answer is beyonce! flip me, i wouldn't want to have to choose between those girls either, lol.
ummmm, will someone please remind me about what was i supposed to do again today?
YES yes, i remember now. i was trying to aim with my banana-flippers, hit the pop-bumpers, and triggered the add-a-ball, or was it the magic-post? Now i have forgotten everything again.
