Sorry to break this nice atmosphere, but I have a question about the vishay led, or the dmd led in general.

On the current draw of my cabinet, I expect to have 9 mm between the leds and the glass.

I have no idea if it doesn't get too much hot or not, is it okay like this or shall I add more space between?

well not being a pro but i would say led display would be quite cool running so that in my mind would be more than enough if it was me i would have a bit of a gap so any warm air can escape ,if you get my meaning smile.gif

For those that wanted to see how to connect the 5 volt Vishay DMD to a PC power supply. Use the red wire from a hard drive molex plug for the 5 volts and connect it to the DMD via a 1.5 amp fast blow fuse. Then connect the ground directly to the dmd as show.

If your using the 12 volt plasma, obviously just use the 12 volt yellow wire and adjacent ground and use a 4 amp fuse.
Make sure your power supply can handle the extra load.

If you using the multi voltage plasma... your on your own biggrin.gif
But please share your results if you get it going....

Just got my Vishay board from Fedex today. dblthumb.gif
I understand your wiring diagram but just have one curious question.
Why does the DMD board have two 5 volt and two ground pins if only one is used?

Guess I will be buying a fuse holder tomorrow so I can have this thing pre-wired for when the driver boards are ready.
Luckily I have tons of molex plugs at work that are the right size.
Somebody already posted a photo of the front a few pages back, so here is a photo of the back side for those who are interested.

To be honest arcade4, I have no idea why there are two 5 volt and two ground connections as the two contacts for each are just bridged out on the board anyway. unknw.gif
I just soldered onto the header pins directly out of pure lazyness. biggrin.gif

I'm quite surprised to see the back of your Vishay led Arcade4, here's the one of my vishay led orange, the LEE-128G032-1

Will the wiring be different than yours?

This looks like a DMD replacement for a standard Pinball, not the +5 V one.

I think all the vishay led range is 5v from reading the data sheets?
They r all direct replacements just seam to be a few different types smile.gif

Just looked at the data sheet for that board.
I would guess you will just use the connection on J3 and not all the silver pins on J1
It does state it is only 5volts.
So from the below schematic, I would guess you would just need Pin 4 on J3 as your 5 volt and Pin 3 on J3 as your ground. (Somebody, correct me if this is not right).

What does the 'display' side look like? Is it a bunch of LED 'bricks' or is it an enclosed display unsure.gif like a plasma display would be?

I was thinking to use only J3 at first but I'm not an expert at all...

Yes, if somebody can confirm
