I have re-uploaded the table with the fixed bumpers. This tables dates from Nov 30 2011. Somehow the version here was still from Sept 2011.

Justice has eluded us, JP.

About the first hard shot to the right ramp went airborne, smacked the Deadhead Skulls image on the back wall, disappeared through what is apparently a cutout in the...plastic(?) and settled a few seconds later against Bumper1, and the machine-gun was back. While the flying ball turns out to be very common, the 'machine-gun' has been replaced by a harsh buzzing that is different from the rapid-fire bumper pulses comprising the 'gun'; a nudge or slam-tilt will sometimes interrupt the noise, but it will be back with the slightest disturbance, and the only remedy is to close VP and restart.

Airborne balls don't always kill the game, though; sometimes the ball will drop in front of the Deadheads and angle left until going under the ramp and ending up back on the playfield. Other times, the ball drops through the cutout but is held elsewhere than near the bumper. It's still irretrievable, but does no real harm if you don't mind waiting for the game to execute a ball search and eventually borrow a ball from the trough, which is really tedious when TWO balls are caught. VP still has to be closed and restarted but at least one can finish a game if so determined.

I looked in the Editor, but the plan drawing seemed not to have the cutout (actually two, although I haven't seen a ball go near the left corner) that swallows the ball, so I'm at a loss about what to do with it. To control the ball without weakening the flippers, would it be feasible to construct a ramp (invisible, of course) that would form a roof over the ramps 1084 / 977 / 1090? Supported by ramps 1061 and 1062?

The screenshot (actually the one from the Downloads page) is highlighted to show the offending rectangular gap and the approximate location in which the lost ball often settles---although only the slightest sliver of white is ever visible.....

(Is it bad form to advertise your table in someone else's thread?)

Good! I didn't remember who made a newer version with 3D objects. Anyway my table is  too old to be played with VP9.9 :)

Is it bad form to advertise your table in someone else's thread?

I suppose not, if that someone else tells you to go for it.

SS144 has been PINemHi Leaderboard's supported VP9 Desktop version of the table with scores submitted since Oct 16, 2011, so I guess that could be called 'old'. My marginal computer, however, didn't do well with most VP9 until last year when VP9.9 picked up the torch, so I got a late start. Thanks, JP and Shoopity, for the suggestion, and as soon as the download is no longer restricted ("Sorry, We Couldn't Find That") I'll give 99x 1.0 a shot.

From the topic, Scared Stiff 99x Shoopity [VP9.x Desktop]:

Another option would be to copy that right ramp, paste a copy, then change the settings for that ramp to be ~units higher at the start and end, then making it invisible. This way you're creating an invisible roof for the ramp, so (the ball/s) won't get launched in the first place.

Worked like a charm; it  just took me a while to get to it. (Sat and pondered what number to give it, then found that one had already been assigned to the copy, and all I had to do was raise it (+55 units, so not to squeeze the ball...) . Looks like this was forseen.

Anyway my table is too old to be played with VP9.9 :)

Not at all, sir; with the balls' extracurricular antics controlled, it does fine. Also, it is still the desktop table supported by PINemHi Leaderboard, which is where most of my VPM aspirations lie now that DX9 has effectively rejuvenated my obsolete computer. At any rate, please accept a four-year-belated thank-you for another of so many great tables.

And, Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to all who read this! :dblthumb: :dblthumb:

Well, HOW"S THE NEW YEAR TREATIN' YA??  :bar3:

I don't expect anyone to drop what they;'re doing and get involved with this (see screenshot); I just think it's odd enough to deserve posting somewhere, and what better thread than this one?

Since the roof over the right ramp fixed the airborne ramp shot problem, ball loss is very rare and usually manifests itself this way; the VBScript error, Object required 0.  I can't say I know what it means, but it comes up when a ball enters a kicker after another has 'left' the playfield---with never a visible or audible clue to where it wound up. I simply close or okay the error and play resumes until the next time a ball enters a kicker, and the only effect is some extra time lost while the game decides to assign another ball.

Until this time, that is. Except for the rom continuing to run, the game was completely locked up, and while I tried this and that, I hit a Windows key and brought up the Start menu which, likewise, locked in place. Later I tried Ctrl-Alt-Delete, bringing up Task Manager, which also locked in place. I really wanted to resume this game, as the DMD info might suggest, but had to eventually tell it goodbye,

Darn.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and enjoy the screenshot. Note the two balls; one just to the left of the error box, and one at the left side of the entrance to The Crate. Factor in the one in the kicker and the one that 'beamed out' and caused all this, and things were busy.....
