Ultra DMD works but is "below" the playfield so I cannot see it while playing on my desktop set up

Table is a lot of fun btw but I would love to see the score.

if your gonna play on a single screen, you need to turn off exclusive full screen mode
or you will never get an ultraDMD window on top.

Suggestion
If you have a ipad, iphone, android table or android phone
and you only have a single screen for the PC

Install

SPACEDESK DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR WINDOWS PRIMARY PC (SERVER)

on your PC

then, go to the playstore or apple app store
and get the spacedesk mobile client

make sure both devices are on same network
Once the PC is running the display service, on the mobile device, just run the client
which will show you one pc on the network, poke that PC and the mobile device will attach to the PC as a wireless monitor

Set the display resolution etc like it was a normal monitor
Now drag a DMD over onto it and resize as needed.

If you have a big enough display, have it run a b2s backglass and a DMD
if you got an 8 inch or so tablet, it will work great
If it is a phone it will work, but as you can see in my signature below, it may be a wee bit on the small side.

And even better....
Got a crappy laptop that cant run VPX?
Grab the windows download of

SPACEDESK VIEWER SOFTWARE
FOR SECONDARY MACHINE (CLIENT)

from that same web page, install it on the laptop
Works same way as the mobile software
Connect laptop's screen to the desktop as a 2nd monitor.

Then just work out a way to sit the laptop, and presto, you got probably a 15" or better backglass/DMD screen.

I use it a lot when im editing something on my laptop, cause i will do that when between things when working
(cause i'm at work more than i am not at work)
then i can see if a backglass works or if a DMD is working right etc
Even if it is tiny as hell.
Thats only like a 5.45 inch phone in the pic

You should maybe add that - this is not meant as a full solution for playing, it will introduce a lot of lag, but, as a tool to setup (not tested) it seems like a valid tip. Also, this is not the only program that can do such things.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

It's the only one i have found that works decent on any android or apple device, and does not have terrible latency, or nonsense advertizing and such built into it
Also works on some pretty potatoey laptops that are otherwise kind of useless.

I mean, i use it on my laptop, ive even done a tablet as a backglass, and a phone as a DMD screen

and i have not experienced any issues other than the fact that there are some table my laptop just can not run well no matter what
with nothing else running cause HD4000 graphics are pretty much boat anchor material.
For the table that is runs well, it has made no difference in how they play.

for my laptop, it pretty much is the permanent means of a backglass.

PC LCD doesn't fit in the backpack.

Can't believe i never noticed this table before as i like originals and romless tables for the creativity they can bring.

After some play, i am really amazed how good this table is !

Just defeated the butcher in the middle of a hilariously hectic 4 balls multiball :D

Congratulations to the authors for this absolute masterpiece.

I'm also not getting the DMD showing. The Diablo.UltraDMD folder is in the same directory as the .vpx file. I reinstalled UltraDMD. Is there a setting in the script I need to modify?

Are you using FlexDMD ? If not - you should and then you also have to make sure you are on the latest version. Daiblo has small video seq that was not supported a few versions ago.

I actually just got it working. I uninstalled UltraDMD then went into regedit and removed any entries then reinstalled.

I'll give FlexDMD a try though.

FlexDMD will be a lot more efficient
and between freezy's DMD extensions and flexDMD you will have a lot more ability to adjust the display to your liking.
And JP has updated a number of existing tables to flexDMD as well as using it for his new tables like Deadpool

And ya gotta try Deadpool

Huge Diablo fan. Love this table. The looks, sounds and gameplay are amazing. I am going crazy with one thing and hoping someone in here knows whats going on.

Ive been playing this table on my laptop for a while now with zero issues. I recently got a pin cab and love it, but for some reason I just can't get the dmd to show up on this game. Every other game I got dmd working for the cab. I mean, this table doesnt show any dmd, even alt-tab doesn't show a dmd at all. Ive searched and searched, but can't seem to find out what is going on. On my laptop, it worked perfectly. Score showed, etc, but on my cab I only get the backglass and no dmd at all so I can't keep score, etc. Please Please help me. Its driving me crazy. I've updated everything. Im using pinup popper as my front end, updated Ultradmd, freeezy, flex, everything I can think of. This table and Stranger things are the only two that work perfect for my laptop single screen, but not for my cab. Same exact files/tables are used for both. I want to play this in its full glory on my cab. Thank you.

Use this script, made by vbousquet, the author of FlexDMD:

Just replace the script, or simply rename it the same as the table and copy to the table's folder.

I was so excited thinking this was going to work, but it didn't. I put the .vbs into the same folder as my tables, the same thing. No DMD. I even tried putting the .vbs into the scripts folder under visualpinball and nothing. Tried making dmd and b2s dmd to visible right clicking on backglass, still nothing. Tryed going into pinup popper config and turing dmd to stay on, and if I go into popper setup, screens/theme/ and turn on dmd to forceon, a dmd shows but it only says Pinup Popper.

I have Diablo Pinball v1.0.3-DOF.vpx, Diablo Pinball v1.0.3-DOF.vbs, Diablo.directb2s in the tables folder of visualpinball as well as the Diablo.UltraDMD folder. I am completely stumped especially since it works perfectly on my single screen laptop. Don't know whats going on.

LOVE YOUR TABLES BTW... Amazing work. Wish I had that talent.

Ill try that in the morning and post my results. When I go into the flexdmd register app it all ready has a check mark on ultradmd and flexdmd. I'll try reinstalling flexdmd from scratch and let you know. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it. Can't wait to see what your working on next. I would love to see a weird science, lost boys table. They scream fun. Lol. Have you seen that ferris bueller table someone created? It looks amazing.

My humble 2 cent's worth. I had the exact same problem. It had to do with mismatched DLL files. They had the same name, but were different sizes. Uninstall your DMD program and physically inspect the DMD folder and make sure it's cleared out of all files. Download and install UltraDMD, Freezy's DMD, or FlexDMD as JP has suggested. Run your tables after each installation and make a backup of the .dll files before installing the next one. Your DMD should now appear. I'd give you a step by step, but it happened to me so long ago now that I can only just give you the overview, but it should work.

Cheers,

Nursey

I uninstalled UltraDMD and only use Flex now.  Supposedly Flex uses less resources and it seems to work great. Diablo is one of my ultimate top favorite tables.

Thank you so much for this table JPS.

Ok, so tried so many things, sorry for late response. Been having teacher conferences this week. Tried what JP said first and it didn't work. So, I tried to uninstall all DMD programs, reinstalled and backed up one by one, but with no luck.

I finally decided to just reinstall pinup popper from scratch. I made backup of vpinball folder. Reinstalled, and applied all in one update, then slowly added all my tables, cfg, pupvideos, alias, etc. It works now right away. So do some of my other tables that were missing DMD but thought they just didn't have them. I love this table. Diablo is one of my favorite franchises. This table is a lot of fun. I really appreciate all the help everyone has given me. I'm pretty sure it was something on my end with a setting in pinup popper that I must have changed. I've only been in this hobby for about a month now and love it. I forgot how much I loved pinball. I was born in the 70, and I am an 80s child and playing these brings back some great memories of being in high school and going to arcades.

Again, thank you everyone for your help, and thank you JP for your table. Now to see how to build one. I would love a weird science table, but fear my creativeness is not good and would do it zero justice. :)

Do you mean Strange Science from Bally 1986? Because there is a VPX table, maybe at VPU

No, I was talking about someone making a table based on the 80s movie "Weird Science". Great Movie, and think it could translate into a great digital pinball table.
