Yeah, I know 10.8 is supposed to be backwards compatible but I can see that there will be some older tables that will need some minor updating to work without any errors. Of course, 10.8 can reside with any of the older executables.

This tool from jarr3 might be helpful:

The carpet is probably an element called VR_ Floor.  Look for it in the editor and highlight it and uncheck "visible".  Might have to remove it from any collections it is in.  It's not a VPX bug.

Thanks. Indeed, VR_Floor was the one where I had to uncheck 'Visible'. I also needed to do the same with VR_Wall_Left and  VR_Wall_Right to get rid of the white blocks on each side.

As for this not being a VPX bug in later betas, I'm not so sure about that - since if I'm not using VR, then I would not expect any VR-related element to show up, but I suppose this may be controlled by the table itself. However, in that case it is not clear why this issue was not present with beta 5.

Using the latest public beta (7), I found an interesting problem with bord's Centaur. The VR background's carpet pattern shows up, surrounding the table in my cabinet view. Running the exact same table with beta 5, this doesn't occur. I didn't look too hard yet but haven't seen an obvious way to get rid of the unwanted artifacts on both sides of the playfield. This looks like a potential bug in beta 7.

Did anyone else experience this?

From a desktop user's point of view, I like this,

in Night Moves I have a simple VR room addition that replaces the Backglass/POV background,

basically changing the POV, the floor tiles are always aligned with the table.

Automatically hiding unwanted objects via script is simple (put in the Table_Init section),

and it is no longer necessary for them to be active, so they do not affect performance.

Short question:
There is no cabinet anti-stretch option in the new VPX 10.8 build,
therefore my ball is always egg-shaped.
Is there a different setting for this?
Thanks

I think it's now called "Force round ball" (in video options).

I haven't tested beta 5, but, trust your finding. I would say it points towards a bug. Which version is doing the correct thing isn't something I've spent time investigating though. A couple of days back, I started to setup new pov/ini for 10.8 using latest master. I remember seeing those VR wall twice, going through the tables I sherish the most. I would not be surprised if Centaur was one of them.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

I've already tried that
But then the ball on the plunger is small and egg-shaped
and in the upper playing field large and slightly egg-shaped

Sorry if I'm not seeing this - but since F12 now brings up the POV, what brings up the volume control for older tables? I used to press F12 to launch the -32 to 0 prompt. Is that gone or is there an alternate method?

So, I have a bunch of new tables calling for VPX 10.8 (get the VPX version error if running 10.7 32bit) but, in 10.8 I don't get SSF on my flippers, but it works everywhere else? I do get it with 10.7 however? What's the reason for this? I know 10.8 is in BETA, but will this get fixed?

Odd. No such issue on my end. Going from 10.7 to 10.8, some preferences are migrated from using registry to ini file, have you gone through the preferences and looked if the same options are set for 10.8 as it is for 10.7 ? If it is, maybe try to rename drive:\users\<username>\appdata\roaming\vpinball\vpinballx.ini temporarily to something else. (path is from memory and probably slightly wrong, and might be a hidden folder (unhide)). New should be generated if missing.

Some may know, that playing in 3D interlaced on a LG 3D TV the perspective is distorted and POV values are completely out of range (see https://www.vpforums...showtopic=52760 and bugs #1230 #1241 in GitHub). There is a workaround to start the table in 3D anaglyph mode and switch to 3D interlaced via live editor but that is a tedious procedure and hardly compatible with Pinup Popper.

Does anyone know a way to switch from 3D anaglyph to 3D interlace while the table is running via a keyboard shortcut or via a script that can be triggered automatically after the table has been started?

Hey guys, Have an issue I can't quite put my finger on as its never happened before. I upgraded to 10.8. beta 7 opened the Spongebob VPW table (the reason I upgraded, that and JM and die hard) and now my playfield isn't displaying. Also tested Johnny Mnemonic and same issue. 10.7 4 64 bit displays fine, but I can't play on that, I've also tried 10.8 beta 5 as well. no dice on the playfield. Since I only upgraded to play your awesome tables, I was hoping you might have an idea of what's happening?

I upgraded to 10.8. beta 7

You are using an old version of the beta.  The main version is on beta 8 and here is information about staying up to date on the latest revisions.

OK, the vpinballx.ini was hidden so I unhid it and now all my tables are working correctly after temp renaming in vpinball.ini! You sir are brilliant! You made my New Year! Happy New year to all you awesome dudes that make this possible!

Has anything changed regarding the ROM generated audio playback for Bally/Williams tables? It might be my imagination, but this audio is sounding a little distorted and just a little different now. It seems to be more noticable in system 11 tables.

I am running 64bit everything with the latest 10.8 beta. Is there some audio adjustment I need to be aware of?

Thanks.

Has anything changed regarding the ROM generated audio playback for Bally/Williams tables?

I think it would be pinmame related.

Makes sense. So back to the question. Anyone know of any changes in VPM that might have affected the ROM generated sounds - especially in SYS11? What about that the sound adjustments in the F1 properties? There is that adjustment for hz if I recall correctly. Cant post a screen shot at the moment.
