I wonder if it's possible to output both the VR view to the HMD and the pancake view to the computer? I know you can turn on the VR view to the computer, but I'm a Twitch streamer of virtual and real pinball machines and I'd love for people to have the traditional top-down pinball streaming view while playing in my VR headset. But I'm not sure this can happen without a complete re-write of the VPVR software. Well, any suggestions?

I do not have a suggestion other than that I would rather see the VR view streamed of what you are looking at than just a top down view and as you already know you can do that easily with steam VR.

Also for the people that watch your stream they will get a much better understanding of what VR looks like and how it helps you aim and make shots if they see the VR room and the 6DOF head tracking.

If you do top down then it makes it look like VR is pointless and you just have a TV strapped to your face.

Agreed. Sorry I didn't qualify my last post, but I'd love these views to show simultaneously (VR and pancake). I know, but a guy can dream, right? ;-)

have you tried to import a vpx table into unreal?
you would have better quality of lighting?

Seriously.  What are you talking about?

Just to view it?

This is really awesome, as of right now I have 37 VR Tables in the collection, unbelievable how people have "caught on" to VR.  72 pages and growing (very different from start) Future is very bright!!!

Fripounet...

Yes, there are other pinball projects and software in Unity and in Unreal Engine, but they don't run VP tables.

I have FX2, and although everything looks pretty, the tables and physics are garbage (in my opinion).

if a gateway could not be created. between vpx and unreal
easy to build with vpx, and better engine for the rest.

Indeed! This thread sold me on VPVR. New gaming computer on the way. Arrives in two weeks. My 2010 desktop is still running my cab really well, thanks to just how well 10.6 is optimized. But, VPVR is so exciting I finally had to upgrade. Thanks to everyone who contributes to this new VP frontier. As exciting as the Physmod 5 / VPX initial development days, of not even more so!

It's relatively easy to get System11 segment displays working without capturing external DMD.    Arconovum's FSS tables have the flasher setups in them, and there's even script-based alignment you can do so you don't need to actually move all 360 flasher items to fit them onto the virtual BG.    Just copy them and fiddle with some numbers until they're positioned right.

For me external DMD capture sometimes works, but when it doesn't, VPX_GL crashes, so I'm quick to retrofit this on the System11 VR room games I encounter.  I've also noticed that freezy's DLL can cause stutter in VR, even if capture is not happening.    The color DMD for Theatre of Magic causes severe stutter when launching the ball for example on my setup.

VPX can handle anything you can think of backglass wise, the only real problem is that VPX's 2D editor makes it painful to work on anything that's vertical.  It's a thorn for even standard table development, but obviously even worse now that we're trying to get a "simple 2d" editor to manipulate a full VR world. :)

I use the -Y axis as the Z axis to build the backglass vertically,

you have to put a flasher with the dimensions of the backglass in the right position, centered and higher than the rails,

and then place the flashes on the flasher backglass for lighting or for the displays.

Note the selected flasher, the Y position corresponds to the height, i.e. to the Z axis,

the real Y position of the flasher is set in the scripts.

In this way the objects that make up the backglass are distributed on a flat area,

instead of being one above the other which would make positioning difficult.

Just to say some more thanks for your continuing efforts.

You guy's are knocking out of the park with the VR room ready tables. The latest Dinner room really compliments the colours of the table, and really adds to the experience.

Outstanding guy's:)

im trying to get the visual pinball vr working however, when i try to load a vpx file with my oculus, it'll display the preview on my monitor however my oculus remains black the entire time. Ontop of the oculus being black on the display preview i am behind my pinball table. Is there anyway to fix this or is this a steam driver issue (i've had newer steamvr drivers break my games before).

edit: fixed the room centering problem with a new key binding ( the default 0 key wasnt working for some reason ) however, the steam driver is still not transmitting the video to my headset. The headtracking is working on the preview window however, the video is not transmitting to the oculus. Does anyone have a fix? I tried both the current steamVR version and the beta version to no avail

Make sure you close vp every time after you exit the gameplay. For some reason, in some cases the headset will remain black unless you restart vp before new table launch.

oculus CV1. My entire VR library is working on steam. I'm also on up to date Windows 10. Both oculus and steamvr are also up to date.

I tried both closing the entire VPVR and restarting it without loading a table, then I forcibly closed it through task manager to no avail and restarted it. I also tried restarting the computer and running VP without loading any tables, closing out of it, reopening it and still it's not transmitting the video.

Edit: I also tried VR View option on steamVR to mirror whats trying to be sent to the HMD and it is completely black when running vpvr however, as previously stated the built in game mirror inside vpvr displays the room and table.

Thanks for asking, Rawd: GTX 2060, Core i7. I haven't bought a new computer for a solid decade, so wife figured she'd get me something that should last a while. Excited to receive it in the mail in a week or so. :D

@coppertj: Maybe your gpu is too weak. Did you try another table? Set FPS Limiter to 0 and reduce the supersampling and disable anti-aliasing in the vr options. Maybe you should disable the win 10 realtime security.

oculus CV1. My entire VR library is working on steam. I'm also on up to date Windows 10. Both oculus and steamvr are also up to date.

Make sure you close vp every time after you exit the gameplay. For some reason, in some cases the headset will remain black unless you restart vp before new table launch.

Same rig here, so trying to help you with my settings:

1. Make sure you have VR on "autodetect" or "enabled". Just check it by opening VPVR without starting table, then - preferences - bottom right section "VR autodetect".

2. I have also VPVR Preview disabled in settings. It gives better performance and less issues with freezy's DLL

3. I have everything in Steam VR Version 1.9.16 on default

So there are two ways to start tables in VR:

a) When you have "VR autodetect" on, it should be enough to just open VPVR and select a table. Oculus software will launch by itself and SteamVR (without the steam browser) will launch after confirming the pop-uo in VPVR which comes up automatically.

When you put your Headset on, you should be able to see the "Star-Sky" Steam "Room" and then the table in VR immediately

b) you have oculus software open. You open steam and start manually Steam VR in upper right corner. You should be able to see the "Star-Sky" Steam "Room.

Launch VPVR and table manually.

So question: do you see the star-sky room (by default it is enabled) when SteamVR is running?

Does the headset turn black once you run VPVR with table or when exactly?

And maybe a very dumb question, but is VPX non VR installed and running properly?

Do you see the Steam Menu when a VR table is loaded? You have to make it disappear (by pressing menu button) to see the VR table proberly

If this all does not help i have no clue whats going on with your system.
