There are lots of comments on their Facebook page from people on the lighting and reflections so maybe for in a later update they might be able to improve it.

You don't need facebook account to read it (I don't have one myself) - just hit cancel and refresh if it asks you to login.

Facebook has a use after all smile.gif

Some people are saying that they might be using an old engine which doesn't do reflections, etc. automatically. It also could be because they are supporting so many platforms they might want to avoid performance issues implementing reflections everywhere on the table. Let's hope the PC version will have more options at some point in the future including better lighting.

VP is still king for me but I will certainly be supporting the Pinball Arcade and buying every table they release smile.gif

Just goes to show how good JP, UW, UR etc are at building tables, when these 'professionals' attempts arent that much more advanced!!

It's not that simple. Pinball Arcade is much simpler to boot up and play, while VP can be really frustrating, especially in the beginning phase. However both "titles" have their advantages: PA - graphics, usability, multiple platforms. VP: cab mode, flexibility and freely available game creation tools.

We'll see about "graphics". I know our alpha ramps done by our great authors look a lot better than what I saw in PA's TOTAN video. Also lighting leaves a lot to be desired in those videos, and perhaps textures. I am curious to see first hand how the physics are as as well as it is tough to tell on the video. The flippers seem a little "slow" to me but I could be mistaken. If you slow down VP flippers you can do all the flipper tricks too. In any case I will still buy at least the first release. I am just hoping for this to be the best it can be so I can buy all of them smile.gif

Have you played the existing Williams Collection? It has it's advantages over VP and VP has certain advantages over it. They're both winners and they're both getting better. And there aren't any other commercial pinball sims that recreate real tables - they need our support to get better and add more tables. It's helps promote the hobby. I know I'd like to see more real tables in my area, but pinball has to be more popular first.

I bought Williams Collection on 3DS lastnight while i wait for this. So now i have the Gottlieb Collection on Wii and Williams on PS3 / 3DS.

Pinball on the 3DS is awesome.

This is pretty nice:

QUOTE
At the 11th hour on the 11th day of The Pinball Arcade's 12 Days of Christmas News, our latest video has been uploaded to youtube. Our video post today is twelve minutes (or just over half) of Theatre of Magic game rules. If you're not familiar with the depth of gameplay of a real pinball table, you may be surprised at how complex the rule sets can become. But don't be intimidated, you can now page through the instructions by chapters to find just what you're looking for - plus, the Table Goals are now linked to a series of instructions to help players learn how to complete them all.

These tables that will be released will have a team of people working on it. From the fun I had with the Williams collection for the 360 into the wee hours, and the dreaded "machine terminated before initializing" error, I say "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY".

I'm willing to pay for something that works. It doesn't have to be a perfect recreation. It won't be until we get holodecks.

My Ipad 1 is quivering in fear... otvwimper.gif

I really like the look of the physics on this, they look ace to my eyes, especially the way the ball rolls around the flippers.

p.s. did the snazzy reflections not make it into the Ipad version? It's hard to tell...

The physics do look good don't they smile.gif. They are still working on the iOS ball reflections so they should look better in the final product although glass reflections won't be in iOS version. Would have been nice to see a static portrait view in the video to give us a taster of what the PC version will offer. Looking promising....

An iPad 1 should run this just fine. No reason to upgrade for this game. Really only the most demanding games might benefit just a tad from iPad2, but this isn't one of them.
I could care less. I'd like to get an iPad since I seem to have every gadget, not a big fan of Apple tho.
& considering I'll probably have this game on my android phone, gaming laptop, my desktop, my ps3/360 & maybe even wii... I simply don't need another device! The game looks good on iPad, but its gonna look good if not better on all other devices.
Just glad that everybody is gonna have something that will play this game.

Some games benefit greatly from an iPad 2, especially Zen Pinball. It's almost unplayable on an iPad 1, but runs pretty smooth on an iPad 2.

Farsight said that their game should run nice on an iPad 1 though.

I like the main camera angle, just not when it zooms. There will be plenty of different camera options to choose from. I like this angle because the DMD is about where it should be in real life.
