Hmmmmm, I've been upgrading vpinball.exe and various tables over the past several months with no issues but stumbled upon this today. I see this in AFM Night and CV Plat (which is just around the ring master in black)

you have to use a revision >= 782 to fix this issue..

@all: rev 783 fixes an issue with regions that overlap the border, so please re-test (sorry for again delaying a potential release, but herweh found this just yesterday) with this revison, as it could potentially cause trouble (i hope not though).

I'm getting some strange graphic popups on the ringmaster's head on CV Platinum with the new 783.

Thanks

Junky

My VP is running really slowly in design mode.  Doing anything requires a few seconds.  Example, I select a timer then click just outside the play field.  The timer takes 5 seconds to appear there.  Also, the more I zoom in, the slower the UI becomes.  It's especially painful to make a curved wall precisely overlaid on a play field image.

This is an original table, and it has quite a few controls - but nothing compare to many of the reproduction tables I have seen.  It's a bit more responsive on a new/blank table - but still not as fast as it should be.

Is it just me?  This has been happening for a while.  So it's not the latest build.

I'm on a Macbook Pro 2.4GHz i7 with 8GB of ram, running Windows 8 (in a Bootcamp partition).

Try unchecking 'Display Image In Editor' on all the walls/lights/playfield except for the only ones you need displayed.

If it is showing up in 782 as well, it is the byproduct of a fix... it will be remedied in the next table update

ah, okay, cool (it was caused by 782).. so it's possible to work around this new issue in a reasonable way for CV?

It's mainly just a layer order issue, but there are other issues as well, and I had it worked around before 782 was even released :) I had already done some tweaking for better performance by 'enabling' the 3d option so RO could be disabled as well as removing the region update stuff I had added that recently became available so it could still be played on older versions.

Tried 782 and had one issue on the latest Shadow night mod. The two "lane shifter" gave graphical issues. Shifters are disappearing / and appearing during action.

Haven't spend a lot of time looking if I could solve it. Can check tomorrow more thoroughly.

Oh well... I couldn't sleep so I investigated a bit more.

Version 626 wasn't having the graphical issue. 759 is the first version having the issue - I don't have other  revisions between 626 and 759 on my cab currently.

I have attached and example of the shifter in 626 and 782. When the light starts it removes the shifter pic and when the light stops the pic re-appears. So it is on and off continuously.

I was able to solve the issue by removing some alpha ramps.

If it is helpful to check some other revisions let me know.

yea r783 is worse for me now i have black marks and the lag.. what are the changes from r750?

I have always ran HDR and RO on and RU off with every table no problems or lag..

Do I need to turn RO and RU off now? Why even have it in the option then?

Thanks for all the great work please don't take this as a nag.. love yous guys! :)

At both you guys: Could you please test the versions inbetween, too, so that we get a more precise version where these problems started to happen first for you two?

(LoadedWeapon: At least the black artifacts will be fixed by a new CV version, as Koadic said)

That would be the drawing order of layers that fuzzel introduced, so handing over to him..  ;)

I'm looking at it right now, but I can't reproduce your problem. I added a small toggle routine to the table to switch the shifter and it works even if the alpha flashers are flashing I can see the shifter. I tested 637 and the latest revision. Is it possible that you edited the table with an older revision which had issues with layers? I downloaded the table and started it and everything was fine.

I might have edited the table but I don't think with an older revision. I will download a fresh copy and test again to be sure I didn't introduce anything. brb

Yes - you are right, I must have messed up something to eliminate the paintball effect I had before rev. 682.  Sorry for the confusion.

I think there is bug in the redrawing of the alpha ramps in rev782 and rev783. I'm using my TOTAN beta table as a test and I can't get the GI lightning to display right. Those ramps had been working fine up to rev780, but with the two latest revisions some of those alpha ramps have redrawing problems. I tried to enable again the Normal 3D stereo, and I also tried to change their redrawing order, but always there are some ramps that do not get redrawn. There are many alpha ramps on top of each other, and they all are at the same height. I just wanted you to know in case there is something that could be done.
