FSS Tables:
I had posted the other day that I was having a lot of issues getting FSS tables to run well in VR. I was focusing on the ones uploaded by Arconovum on VPinball.com and they all had a similar issue of looking out of focus, low resolution, just very poor overall. I did some experimenting and I think I’ve found the problem and wanted to share it with everybody:
If you open the Options panel on the right when the table is selected (Table1 usually) the top section of drop down options is called User Customizations. All 4 of the options in this section (1.5x SSA, Post-proc AA, In Game AO, and ScSp Reflect) should be set to DEFAULT. For some reason these are set to Off or other values on many FSS tables.
Make these changes, save the table, and launch it in VR and it should be a night and day difference. They are very playable now!
Some of them are going to need some additional tweaks. Some have glass on the playfield that reflect and interfere and I would like to remove or at least tone down. Any suggestions on doing that would be appreciated. Also some have very reflective backbox materials that reflect the table (CFTBL is a really bad one) so I’d like to figure out how to resolve that. Is that likely something to do with a material as well?
This opens up so many awesome new tables! Apologize if this was already common knowledge.
Thanks DBKNIGHTX,
I have had to do this on many tables in order to get them working properly. However, I have never tried it with FSS tables. I always just assumed those tables didn't look that good so didn't use them. I just tried this on a couple tables and WOW, this makes a huge difference on the clarity.
