You only need USB for the Teensy. No extra power for the Teensy. You only need power for the LED strips themselves.
TerryRed,
from what I can understand, the control of the lights is done PC-->USB Cable-->Teensy Board-->Octo28 Board-->Ethernet cable--->LED strip
Power for the LEDs is PSU-->(Inline Amplifier if needed)--->LED Strip
We will not need to connect to any output board like Pinscape/iPAC etc?
Also, do we still need to make Manual DOF .ini/configuration files or does the DOF utility create that for us now?
thanks for your help
The teensy and octo adapter is what controls the addressable leds, nothing else. You would just need a 5V supply good enough for what you want. It needs to be tapped in at certain points (one on the right side strip, one at the back matrix, one at the left side strip)
DOF Config Tool can now creates 5 flasher, and strobe effects automatically for LED MX for every table now. Some tables have additional effects already done, like you can see in some of my earlier videos.
You Have the POWER!!! with my MASTERED Edition update to "Rom's" excellent "Masters of the Universe" Future Pinball table. I've also created an "all-new" DOFLinx cabinet mod as well. This table mod is inspired by SLAMT1LT's tables as well as the newer pinball machines (from JJP, Stern, Heighway Pinball) that now use monitors instead of DMDs.
A video demonstration that shows off all the features of the MASTERED Edition as well as the DOFLinx mod can be seen here:
MASTERED Edition:
- new backglass with various fanart. Formatted specifically to work with 16:9, and 4:3 screens.
- new full motion video sequences for almost all table actions and modes. These are NEW hi-resolution video clips that now appear on the backglass (and display HUD for desktop users)
- new info display shown on backglass
- new sound clips
Watch Prince Adam dance to the beat (and the animated matching flashers) of Castle Multi-Ball!
Experience the woosh of blower-fan air from Ripper Multi-Ball.
FEEL the POWER (and shaker motor) when you become HE-MAN and see your power emanate from the flashers.
FEAR Skeletor as he launches his devastating 9-Ball Multi-Ball and watch him laugh at you on the backglass.
Go beyond the days of DMDs and see full hi resolution videos and info displays on the new animated backglass.
Don't be a cheap skate, or Skeletor will get angry!
With 1000's of images, and new sounds...this makes for a MOTU experience like no other, and a Pinball experience found nowhere else!
DOFLinx Cabinet Edition:
-10 solenoid feedback for flippers, bumpers, slings, kickers, etc
-gear motor for Castle Grayskull, Ripper, and He-Man
-shaker motor feedback to feel the power and action
-blower fan feedback for Ripper ramp
-5 RGB flasher animated effects
-RGB under cabinet lighting
-beacon and strobe effects
-coin, start, and launch button leds
A normal Desktop version of the MASTERED Edition as well as a DOFLinx Cabinet version of the MASTERED Edition will be on PinSimDB when approved.
Here are some still pics from the Desktop version.
Well, I'd like to say that this post is about an upgrade to the pincab, but....
We just moved to Ottawa this week. Its been a long couple of weeks of packing, loading, cleaning, and living in a hotel with myself, wife, 2 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. VERY tiring.
We were happy to finally take possession of our new home, and to see the moving truck arrive with all of our stuff. The move went amazingly well without any real scratches or damages to the house.
Amazingly, our items arrived undamaged.... except for "one" thing......
How much damage? It looks like the playfield screen at a minimum. Do you have a cover glass? If so, did it survive? I presume you took the backbox and legs off and that they are not missing.
Insurance claim I presume?

Assuming the head was removed and transported separately?? Since mine is base on a real cab, I can fold mine down for shipping, but I would look at removing it - its super heavy with the DELL monitor I am using.
I hope you can get a replacement screen. Most of us are using older screens which are hard to source if we had to replace.. especially when we've routered out the channels to fit a particular size. I once dropped a screwdriver on my unprotected screen. Luckily all I got was a speck of a chip on the screen.

Ya, I'd be pretty well hooped if I lost my main screen! 46" screens are darn near impossible to find in Canada... I should really have bought a second one from the guy I got mine from. The price was right!
Sorry to see that Terry... hope you get things back up and running soon.
Yah, it was a military move, so damages are covered.
I removed the backbox and legs myself. I don't have glass (yet), but the packers knew to not put anything on top of the pf screen. Sadly, all my stuff was put into storage for a few days, and a new company brought it to the new house. The new company put a stack of blankets on the pf screen and then put the backbox on top of the cabinet which resulted in the blankets crushing the pf screen.
Dumb mistake....
Luckily I have "3" of the exact same model TV that I used to use for my 3 screen setup for my simpit. One went to my son, another for PinKaida, and another spare that was intended for the simpit (which would also use VR).
42 inch TVs are hard to find in Canada, whereas 43 inch tvs are plentiful. I "may" get a 43 inch TV to fit, but if I can get a 4K TV, it may just be for the simpit.
TerryRed, I don't know where you find the time to do all that you do with the Mame/DrivingSim/VPin , and then regular family life + work! lol!
I still have my Mame Project on the back burner.. Need to start it before the snow flies this winter!
Anyone that has built a Virtual Pinball table will have no problems with a MAME cabinet. They are SO easy to wire up and the programming is super simple. Plus they have the advantage of being a lot less expensive to make as well. Of course, this is just my opinion. I've made 2 MAME cabinets, and am still terrified (ok, maybe not "terrified") to start on a VP cabinet.

...add being in the military to that which is another world all together! When my kids were little I never could have had these toys. The older teens now, so I get more time to myself. When I do projects though, I tend to go all out and not stop until its mostly done and working.
Hi Terry. Loving your build very inspiring. I'm in the process of getting my hardware together. I'm after a quick piece of advice. I'm in the process of choosing my third monitor. I plan on using it the same way as yourself to show topper videos and dmd. In one of your videos you mention that some of the topper videos can appear a little "squished". In hindsight would you have gone for a bigger screen I'm thinking 22" as opposed to 19".
I used to have an older 19 inch 5:4 screen, but it died. All newer screens and TVs are 16:9, so I didn't have much of a choice in changing the "Topper" section to make it bigger, unless I made my DMD section much smaller.,
Ok, so now I'm a much happier man. My mancave is mostly up and running. PinKadia is alive again, and the simpit is shaking the house again after a long absence... driving my wife crazy!
Here's a video tour describing what I have, and how everything works and is wired together and how VR is setup to work with everything. I show off the simpit and how my 12 transducer telemetry feedback setup works and you also get to "hear" how it works too! It is amazing combined with VR!
If want to skip right to the simpit demo then go here....
Just waiting for the new TV to get replaced, then I'll make a stand for that to go over the simpit to bring the screen closer. Then the last screen and game consoles will go the the unused space.
