I figured out what the problem was and was something really simple. My wallpaper on my desktop has blackbars on the top and bottom and the dmd blended right with it,so I never seen it and assumed it wasn't there.I would double click on it again and get the error, now it woks fine thanks for the help.

The card play at the end of Medieval Madness Gold 1.04 is not shown correctly. The cards can not be identified so it can not be played. And some of the animations are also flickering, same as in STTNG. Can you have a look at this?

I will have a look Clarkkent, I do play Medieval Madness frequently and  have always been able to see the cards but I haven't tried STTNG as of yet. I'll let you know if I find anything.

This is what I see when the card game of the gold edition appears!

Edit: A friend of mine with the exact same hardware does not have this problem. Is there anything that can be configured wrong?  Maybe this is also the reason for the STTNG problem here?

Thanks Clark, I can tell from your screenshot what the problem is and it isn't hardware related. It appears to be a side effect from a patch that I did to correct some other tables. The font layer and graphic layer overlap each other to make one image and the graphic layer is not re-sizing to fit the screen properly. That appears to be an over-sized queen of spades? I am currently looking for a solution to fix this issue but It probably won't be ready for a little while. I unfortunately don't have enough spare time at the moment. I am using Ultra edition of Medieval Madness and it woks fine. I'm guessing that your friend is also using a different version? I will have a look at STTNG to see if it is triggering the same issue. I will post an update as soon as it is available.

Thanks for your help.

OK, thanx! It's good to know that it's not my system!

By the way - it was a mistake as it's the same on my friends system. He looked at the backglass DMD and not at FutureDMD...

I'm having a weird problem with this program. My third monitor is a 7" usb monitor, XP 32bit. I can get the program to work great but I have to manually set where the DMD is every time. I can set the position and once I start the table in future pinball the dmd image shifts to the left. I've attached a picture that shows where the dmd has moved and is partially blocked, I marked it since it's a bit hard to tell.

If I change the monitor setup and position the 3rd monitor to the left of the primary monitor in the resolution settings, it shifts right when I start the table. If I position the 3rd monitor underneath the primary monitor, the dmd images shifts up. The only place it will work is if I set the 3rd monitor at the top of the primary monitor. This however blocks my secondary monitor in Hyperpin and when playing the VP tables.

I'm not sure if maybe the problem is caused by the USB monitor. Is there a way to change the registry or something to keep the dmd display from moving? Thanks

I read that the DMD's width will only stay in multiple of 256 pixels.

So would that mean I need to adjust the resolution of that monitor? With it being a USB monitor, there's only 1 setting of 800 x 480. Or would I need to adjust the resolution of the other monitors to keep this one from moving. Sorry, I'm not the most technically sound person in the world.

EDIT: When I set the dmd monitor over top the primary monitor in the resolution setup, everything works fine and the dmd doesn't move like it does when positioned anywhere else. Like I mentioned however this causes Hyperpin to not see the correct 2nd monitor.

Am I the only one getting major ball stutter once this is running?  FP runs smoothly otherwise.

Specs:

Win XP SP3

core i3 3.3Ghz, 4GB ram

Nvidia GTX 550ti driving two monitors using 270.61 driver

USB to VGA for 3rd screen DMD

Data Point:

Setting FuturePinball.exe and FutureDMD.exe to "realtime priority" had no impact.  Still major ball stutter.

ok guys i recenlty got around installing this to test on my 3 cab setup....

i have set my third monitor to 1024x768 and stretched the dmd  to fit.....now a few tables seem to run fine  Attack from mars/Lethal weapon/tales from the crypt....

Now some tables dont work and when i try they seem to crash the dmd....pixels appear all scrambled, especially tables like family guy and indiana jones...the dmd looks all distorted and seems to carry over to the other change of table like this (unless i shut down and restart dmd)

Can anyone help me on how to fix this?

Btw im running form  outside hyperpin till i get this fixed

thanks

ps. do all tables support the DMD?

All of my tables that have a 128x32 DMD in them work with this system.

For me, I load the exe as I load the table in Hyperpin and have it unload itself when the table closes. Getting the DMD size correct is tricky. I have a 1366x768 momitor but resize the DMD to fit in a smaller footprint of the sceen ~1300x400.

So only certain tables work with certain dimensions? becasue most of my table DMD just kinda looked glitched and then refuse to work unless i quit out....How to you workout the pixel drag dimension to work at the correct ratio then?

Here's what I did...  I used Elvis as my test table.  I launched FutureDMD, then launched Elvis, then stopped Elvis while "ELVIS" was being displayed.  I didn't exit out of the table, only stopped it.  So, that left the ELVIS logo up on the DMD.   I then stretched and contracted the horizontal control on FutureDMD until it looked the right width for my backglass area.  This isn't a perfect science as it will cut off at a certain point and you won't see all of the letters.   Once I had the width generally figured out, I changed the vertical the same way.  There was a bit of back and forth to get the right setting.

Once I had it tweaked to my liking I exited out of the system and from then on all of my tables supported this backglass size.

Note:  Some tables do not take full advantage of the 128x32 space.  You can typically tell because they don't take up a full DMD area on the normal table.  For these tables, FutureDMD will work but they aren't going to use the entire 128x32 space.

Hope this helps.

ok managed to get most tables running now, some better than others, few questions though.

What happens to tables that doesnt really have a DMD (blue and pink table),no score dmd appears on the third monitor.....is this suppose to happen?

I noticed when family guy table is playing that the movie scenes behind the score that appears shows on the backglass DMD but not the third monitor DMD  ie,my top scores appear on backglass and DMD but when the movie ending or cutscenes appear in the game, the third monitor only shows the score.....is this normal?

Is the DMD easy to setup in hyperpin? and does it load with all tables?

Great project though, well done for getting into this.,much appreciated to all those working on it.

From my understanding, FutureDMD looks only at the standard 128x32 DMD and mirrors that activity to the FutureDMD DMD.  I have no idea how Gauntletlover does this but it is amazing that it works.  So, tables that don't use a standard DMD won't display anything on the FutureDMD area, which for me is fine as those tables never supported them anyway.  As far as displaying movie scenes, I haven't tried this but I don't think it will work, nor do I think I want it to work.  FutureDMD emulates a non-color small resolution DMD.  Most of the videos look best in full color, so I just let them play directly on the backglass.

As far as launching from Hyperpin,  I added the following line to the script, right before it launches the Future PInball table:

 Run, "%emuPath%\FutureDMD.exe" close=1 table="%tableName%",,hide UseErrorLevel

I've hacked my FPLaunch code so much that I can't really tell you what line to look for, but it should be in the section that  starts with

********************* FUTURE PINBALL *************************

The "RUN" line above should launch FutureDMD and then it automatically closes FutureDMD when the table has finished running.

My fried has the problem that FutureDMD does not close when exiting the table to HyperPin. The script line is correct (with close=1) as he uses the same script I'm using (and it works here totally ok). Does anybody know why it does not close FutureDMD?

ClarkKent,

Before Gauntletlover added the auto-unload feature, I put the following lines in my script to "kill" the FutureDMD screen.  This worked effectively for me.

If Winexist("ahk_class WindowsForms10.Window.8.app.0.378734a") {
 Winkill
 }

I put these lines right after the line

Only have a minute but I thought I would add in about movie clips.  I have modded my own Tron Legacy table to really take the dmd for a test drive. Try this snippit in tron legacy for an example.

Find this line and replace it with the bolded line (you don't have to delete the line you can put a single quote ' in front of it):

DispDMD1.QueueText "[edge3][na][f4][y2][xc]GAME OVER", DeNone, 2000, TRUE

DispDMD1.Text = "[il1][sf1][ef291][rf82][f1][y26]GAME OVER - INSERT COINS"

If you feel creative you can spice up alot of the dmd displays.

On a side note. If you are using BAM it is currently only partially supported so you may be missing some of the dmd display as well as won't see the movie clip in this example.
