Please, don't reference TPA! :/
I was kinda hoping PU3D would be the new savior in both gfx & physics.
I think you could maybe let someone from here who can reference real games good to help you there.

I think the ball movement physics are really good, but the flippers seem too powerful in that it is never a struggle to hit the ball to the back of the table. The tables are also overly easy and I am a rubbish player.
You're right. I opened this thread in their message board and these issues are probably going to be fixed.

non-points related features not being saved?? What are they doing to the rom's / nvrams?

Yeah PA is good but it plays like a computer game and not a real simulation of physics. They have made it accessible, rather than trying to mimic the difficulty of a real table. For me this actually breeds apathy about the game as opposed to enthusiasm.
I think in PU3D you need to capture the weight of the ball first and foremost. In PA (and also in some VP/FP tables) the ball feels like it is made of something full of air. It needs to feel heavy and not bounce off of objects at a million miles per hour (faster than the human eye can see!).
Do you have access to a real pin? This would give you a massive head start.

Amazing night modes, especially on TOM.
But can someone tell this guy that nudging is not cheating!!
So Farsight, if you read this.
I've stopped buying your tables because I could not stand the pink glow on your table. The dark mode allows to reduce the effect, but please try to do something.
If you go for a cab version soon, this could be the best possible advertisement for your company, and might bring more users to the normal version. Just saying.

pissed it didn't make it for the ps4 launch. come on FS, you always miss your launch dates. PC version with cab support probably won't come out unit 2015
if ever
Does not matter, we will have VP, PU3D and Timeshock to keep us busy. ![]()

Some observations of the TPA tables:
Black Knight: Totally unplayable. Looks fantastic but plays nothing like the real thing. I'd take my own VP version any day over this (or JPSalas version).
Black Hole: Ridiculously easy conversion of a tough table... I actually grew a beard waiting for the ball to drain. Clocked it what... six times. Looks fantastic but plays like a children's game.
No Good Go'Fers: Doubled the Grand Champion score immediately, on my first game. Way too easy.
Medieval Madness: Looks and plays really well but again... way too easy.
Scared Stiff: Way too easy. Looks and plays fantastic though.
Funhouse: Way too easy. Extra balls are coming over and over again. Default dips set at easiest?
Very good conversions:
Theatre of Magic. Not overly difficult but still challenging and highly enjoyable. "The Greatest Pinball on Earth"... well.... close. Amazing atmosphere in the real thing and this conversion captured the essence well.
Cactus Canyon: Again, on the easy side but not too much. Highly enjoyable table.
Whitewater: This might be even more difficult than the real thing. The outlanes drain heavily.
Pin-Bot: Quite challenging table, looks great.
Haunted Hause: Plays pretty much like I remember the real thing to play. Very well done.
Centaur
Gorgar (wow this is a looker) and pretty tough table to boot.
Firepower
Champion Pub (Now this is an incredible conversion. No VP version can touch this. Challenging table that looks fantastic).
Cirqus Voltaire. The real machine is quite easy... one of the easiest Bally/WMS tables ever. I think the TPA version might be even easier... but it plays pretty well, looks insanely good and offers at least some kind of challenge.
TZ, TOTAN and Taxi are all on the easy side but at least not as bad as the tables mentioned first. Gottlieb conversion of Class of 1812 is actually pretty damn good too.
I think the PC version has a lot of potential ahead. People who say the physics suck (or are like in FP) are full of sh*t... the physics are very good... I'd compare them to ProPinball. The biggest issue is the difficulty level on some tables, which I think is related to low slope and too powerful flippers. Easily fixable with table difficulty level settings. Some ramp shots are too easy as well (the ramps "suck" balls in some tables.... due to way too powerful flippers.... VP had a lot of this issue too). CFTBL left ramp being a prime example.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the Pinball Arcade... fundamentally. The lack of user defined physics settings is the problem.... which (hopefully) will be addressed.

Takling about PA physics..
When Monster Bash was realeased on PS3, I could not stand the way the ball bounced on the flippers. It was making the ball catch so random that I stopped playing after that.
I've tried it again recently, and it looks like the problem disappeared. The physics generally seemed better as before.. so they have maybe fixed/enhanced them via an update.

For me, what makes ProPinball stand out is that it has real ball-spin that interacts with the table/rubbers. Every other pin-sim is missing this and (to me) it's necessary for getting as realistic in how a game "feels". It looks like the new unity engine might do it though. ![]()

IGN gives the PC and PS4 version a 9 out of 10. Clearly IGN knows nothing about Pinball.
Edit: OH!!!!!!!!!!!! I get it now... 10 being utterly crap and 1 being awesome
9 out of 10 with there DLC bs and censorship of the games that needs an DLC to trun off? also the defaults like EB for replay and special are far from what the games are like for the most part. Even when games are setup for free play you don't see that for the most part.
Also lack of home roms that the real games have.
The emulation is a let down and that is why I don't want to pay for this also the DLC ripoff side to it.

Eight bucks per two tables for the pro mode (or even less if you buy the season packs) is a ripoff?
To each his own I guess.
should be part of the base price. That is the DLC BS.
Old PC games did not have the DLC BS. Some had add ones done the right way expansion packs that added new content not stuff that should of been part of the base game.
Also the ones that did have some censorship had free updates to trun it off / had a setting that did not need an DLC to unlock.

Seems fine to me. They have the base level packs at $4.99 for the wide majority audience that doesn't care about having access to those settings and features and they add $3 for the smaller percentage of us that do. They are a business after all and need to make enough money to stay afloat and keep making the tables.
People forget that in days past we used to play the full price of a retail game for one table, like with the Pro Pinball series.

I pretty much agree with everything Kristian said. Some table play is good, just set to easy. It is one thing to have easy settings for a general user base on phones, tablets and even consoles. I can't get my sausage fingers to work those damn things very well.....
But those platforms do kill time in airports.
But the typical VP desktop and cab user will find them easy, perhaps because of the platform. But I think those are things that can be fixed and will be. When Farsight gets their cab working with the nudge and plays games they become bored with it will get it fixed. I think they will come to the conclusion that harder settings and or rom adjustments will be necessary to keep the interest of these players (and themselves)!
Right now, I consider the PC version the first version of the Matrix. A pinball players (alleged) utopia, were every game mode and scoring record is accessible for players of all skill levels and no pinball player suffered. It was rejected. I have had scores that have easily exceeded my highest VP scores, which were already much better than real tables....and I really suck.
