Don't know what to tell you. It's a thing. It's real. I installed the minimal install version of X from github so it could be that kind of issue.

The 10.7 from github will not work, or will not work right, in windows XP

Well, never mind that, you said Windows 10

Not sure then because i am running the latest snapshot from github as are many others here
and i dont think any of us have seen that.

Seems more like some issue related specifically to your system rather than vpx itself?

You arent using a debug build are you?

Does it work as far as running a table?

Running a table is flawless.
Very very smooth. Been having a blast with Firepower on there. Thinking about trying some more. But I got into pinball again recently because I figured out I could have some fun building my own based off my own themes

Maybe I should get intouch with a dev and see what they can do to help.

I'm not sure if I'm running Debug or not. There is no indication in the app that tells me it is. So I'massuming not.

Anyone here using Windows 11? My plan is to switch to it but need some opinions before spending an hour for the installation process.

Ive run it. vpx works fine in it, but windows 11 itself has 0 advantages for a dedicated vpin
there is 0 reason to switch to it, vpx is a dx9 app which windows 11 does not offer any kind of improvements for, so it simply works the same as it works in windows 10

or windows 7 for that matter

You couldn't pay me to use 11. I don't even like 10 at work. Everything I have is 7 at home. Even my more modern cab pc, I found a way to put 7 on and it runs just fine.

Something I noticed when upgrading from Vista to Win7..

I was never able to use Blender, with Vista and below.

I install the same Graphics driver on Vista and Win7, but the 3d graphics drivers never load or install on Vista, where they do on Win7.

This is installed on same computer, with same specs, just different Operating System. Same graphics card.

I found it strange, but never went back to Vista after that.

I think when I first did this poll, I was running Windows XP, but not certain.

I have a feeling, most who took this poll years ago, have upgraded to newer windows since then.

I'm using Windows 11 OEM and have not run into any issues thus far.  ~1,100 VPX tables blended with Steam On-Rail Shooters; Video Jukebox and the entire MAME-Vertical library.

Between Pinball, HTPC-Gaming, Kodi boxes, gaming-desktops, laptops ... ends-up being a lot. All our daily drivers (gaming desktops) and all our newer laptops are all Windows-11 Pro (which is nice).

Pinball and Kodi-boxes are Windows-10 (64 bit). I think I have them all up to v22H2. I don't really have anything viable running Windows-7/8/8.1 now-days (I used all those licenses for free upgrades to Windows-10). Well, clean-installs actually.

It may make the site look like a relic in your eyes, but that is because this site has a rich Visual Pinball history.

The question seems to still be as relevant as it was back in 2013 when Toxie first posted it.

We don't eliminate the past, or remove old posts. This is all part of the history of Visual Pinball.

VP8 was not removed when VP9 was created. VP9 was not removed when VPX was created.

It all belongs, and deserves its own notch on the Totem Pole of Visual Pinball History.

This site is not just America

For many parts of the world, a modern PC is a pipe dream, the cost could feed a family of 7 for a year
They use old machines.

They have many VPins based off of very old office type PC's and run VP9 and windows XP

The question may be relevant, but the answers aren't.  If we started a fresh poll on this today and still found about 10% of the people responding are still using Windows XP, there is certainly a problem there.   :D

A poll started in 2013 is totally irrelevant.

In post #109 above...

The question remains relevant even if it was started 10 years ago, and it will still be relevant 20 years from now in the future.

Maybe a new poll every time Windows releases new version would be more accurate with the answers?

Yeah, maybe once a year or something would be more useful info.  Will it let you edit the first post to make a new poll?
