Longer/cheaper the extension cable, the more power loss there is. I would assume though if one is using a short extension cable with a USB powered hub at the end, you would be ok. I'll try it... when I get my cab!

Prehaps not a +5v problem lol ( mine is 4.85v )
First i use a USB extension = BAD IDEA lol But don't know first
Then try with a regulator 7805 same thing
Remove the extension USB and use a PS3 USB CABLE
Remove the 7805 and use my PSU +5V


Conclusion NEVER USE USB EXTENSION with PINDMD and if your +5v isn't great you can use a 7805

Interesting..I have a usb extension. I do seem to have the rare random flashing...could be a reason? Problem is PC is too far away to use a standard USB cable.

i test all my boards using a 2meter usb to usb mini b cable, would this sorta thing be long enough?
removing usb extender cables from the equation is probably best!!

im still not sure what causes this ghost pixel as the pinled does not do it nor does the real plasma displays (using pinDMD) it just seams to be on the vishay 0603 LED.

i really need a vishay 0603 LED to test with, changing the timings around will most likely solve this!!! when Noah gets the displays in stock ill have to get hold of one and try and adjust the timing to better suite this type of display

And what his picture doesn't show is that that top ghost pixel rolls over to the bottom line. Any lit pixel that is at the top line of the DMD has a ghost pixel that appears on the bottom line. (hope that makes sense).

The letter ghosting itself is not bothersome as it just looks like shading. The rollover ghosting is very obvious though if there is no graphic on the bottom lines.

the roll over is the same problem, deffo some sort of timing difference on these new vishay 0603 displays, when i can get hold one one to test ill release another version of the firmware with a fix

Finally got the Vishay LEE-128G032-1 out the packet for the time since it arrived over 2 months ago! It is indeed true, good things come to those who wait!



I have no cab ready yet hence the DMD resting in a box.

I just got a cheeky email from our friends at Future Electronics (France division - although its the same bunch you deal with wherever you live).

I ordered SEVEN WEEKS ago, paid on 05/04/2012 at this price:
LEE-128G032-1 233,4493 Euros
+ tax 46.93

and they have just emailed me to say:

"We received information on the supplier Vishay part # 128G032-LEE-1 - Qty 1. They said there is a price change and is now € 356.13.
I await your decision what you want me to do with this command.
Thank you very much and good day".

Such a badly written email, and it doesn't even make it clear whether that is with tax or not, but in Europe we are looking at least a 75 euro increas if that includes tax, and 130 euro increase if it doesn't include tax

Unfortunately not Russ. I have sent a response and will see what they say, but I won't pay more than what was agreed. I guess its the usual supply-demand-greed curve kicking in .

Out of interest has anyone else got an outstanding order with Future Electronics in the US?

I checked yesterday at future electonics and they are defo charging at least £50 more than I paid for mine.

I cannot find a mention of a restock date on the site.
