Here's a summary of my thoughts on this, in hopefully a manner that doesn't continue the negativity:
I believe we are blurring the lines between CREDIT and PERMISSION. I believe we should give CREDIT to the work of other authors as far as recreations go. I don't agree with the need to ask for PERMISSION, because I feel that's where you begin to damage this hobby. By claiming this stuff as your own or potentially denying permission to use your resources, you start detracting from the talent and work of the real authors of these tables, that is the artists and the game designers and the IP holders who make this hobby possible.
That being said, I will always ask for permission when requested.
I do think there's a grey area that we need to clarify.
I never would have gotten into recreating if I didn't tinker with already created tables, I know doing that for personal use is very different from releasing, but with a blanket "permission required" statement you turn users off of these mods.
That's my 2 cents, hopefully more civilly stated than last time around.
