I don't know. Without sounding like a Spock knock off, there's got to be a logical reason for why some are having problem.  Standing back, this is what I think is NOT causing the issue:

- nvram should be ruled out since some people are saying they've deleted it and the issue still comes up

- anything else anyone wants to add?

What could be causing the issue:

- Different hardware specs shouldn't affect it but who knows?

- Different VP version:  Can we confirm those with the problems are using VP9.9.0a?

- Version of VPM used (maybe we shouldn't go there eheh)

- Obscure bug within VP that's not been caught yet such as SSE bug or something like that so... what CPU is everyone having the bug using?  What GPU?  Are we talking about all AMD/ATI users? (for the record, still no bug here and I'm using Intel I7 and an NVidia 570)

- People not using the updated VBS scripts?  Can those with the issue confirm they're using 3.43 (I believe?)

- Any customization done before running it?  For example:  for those having the issues, have you adjusted the script for anything such as adding a db2S/UVP?  Have you changed the rom?  if yes, try downloading it fresh, no adjustments, delete the nvram and just run it.  See if you still have issues.  If you don't, try and keep using it as is for a few days

- any other ideas?  Throw it here!

Suddenly I have troubles with the face - it's not turning anymore while playing. I tried to delete nv but it does not help. And I still have severe troubles with aiming. From the logical standpoint it should be possible to aim with the right flipper to shoot the left shuttle ramp if you hit the ball from a certain point of the right flipper - but it's not. Maybe I'm not the best pinball player but I never experienced it so difficult to aim on a real pinball machine. I hope for the physmod version to have a better feeling for the ball to aim!

The plunger is also too fast. Maybe it's the right setting for analog plungers but for a digital one it's hard to get the right force.

The only thing I can see on your list is... I do have a AMD card -Radeon R9 290. I downloaded  VP9,90 from this sight so if there is an updated version I dont know about?

Other than that Ive tried everything you've mentioned.

I always get "head motor and/or switch error". No matter if I delete nv or cfg.

The head is always turning before starting a game. It never stops.

OK, now it seems to work. But deleting the nv-ram and the cfg-file to enable VPinMAME to create new ones did not help. But thank god I had an old backup of these files - after copying these two files in the corresponding folders it suddenly worked. Weird. Very very weird.

Ok let's get some info for people having problems with the face.

Ok first off here is my setup:
I7 3.2 ghz
16 gb ram
Nvidia 670 2 gb
Win7 64

Using 9.9.0a
Unified version of pinmame
Latest vbs files

Pinmame settings:
Use sound checked
Use samples checked
Skip startup test checked
Cabinet mode checked.

First off vp 9.2.1 will not function correctly.

I've played this table probably 2 or 3 hundred times throughout the build. Lost calibration, but never lost the movement. Maybe it didn't turn if it wasn't on the correct face at the start.

When starting the game I get no error, like the switch and motor error messages you reported.
If I load the game and let it finish calibrating, to where the rom will let me start a game and release a ball. If it is not on the open mouth robot face. Exit the game back to the editor, then restart the game. It should be on the open mouth robot face at this point, and everything should work correctly.

If you wait at the end of a game until the face goes back to the home position (open mouth robot) before exiting the table. It shouldn't loose calibration.

I'm thinking that possibly people don't have the skip startup test option checked in pinmame and are getting the switch/motor error, so the rom just doesn't trigger the motor as it thinks it is broken
I'm thinking if it doesn't correct the issue when you select skip startup in pinmame you may have to delete the nvram and cf file. But try it first before deleting them

hm i´m getting mad :( couldn´t get it to run

first tried the mentioned slam tilt and tilt variante and also checked the other settings but it all looks ok for me.

I do not press any button before the splash screen is gone but the only time the head moves is when i start the table (and that every time i start it) After calibration it stops on the right pos but during game it won´t move anymore.

When i go to the pintest menu i also get the head and or headswitch error but when i go to the head cycle test it´ll work.

tested it with v2 and the new 2.01 also with & without B2S and with the roms l6 & l7

my pc is not so powerfull as yours but i don´t think thats the prob as the beta just runs fine 2 days ago.

I3 3.1ghz

4gb ram

nvidia gtx560ti + nvidia GT610

win7 x64

VP version 9.9.0  (searched for the 9.9.0a but can´t find it)

vpinmame unified (but also tested with the normal one)

latest scripts

Pinmame settings:
Use sound checked
Use samples checked
Skip startup test checked
Cabinet mode checked.

Perhaps this helps to sort some things out but i have no idea what i can test next to get it going. The only thing would be to test it with vp 9.9.0a if i find it :)

EDIT: I found a fix. I just loaded the table with the vp_physmod5.exe then waited till the calibration was done and exit. After that started it up with my vp 9.9.0 and what should i say the head is working again :)

Funny and i don´t really have an answer of why this helps but it works for me. Now it´s time to get into the billionaires club again as the old nv rams are gone ^^

thx again for this fantastic release and your help

990a? Where did that come from? What's the diff to 990? Have to test later...

If could make a wish it would be awesome for us mere mortals (noobs) if it would be clearly stated on the release page which VP Version to use, which rom (some already link to it), etc.
This saves us from having to browse the forum for six hours after acquiring such an awesome table like this.

Well the 9,90a didnt work for me but..I found a solution! I ran the table in physicsmod5 and changed the flipper mass to 1 and the flipper strength to 3000. The face works perfect and the table runs great. It even made the plunger work better! Hope this works for others.

Well, I'm a bit slow...

But I can confirm that physmod5 fixes the head. With 990 or 990a I kept getting the human flesh face, even after several restarts and recalibrations. One start in physmod5 and the head just turned one additional time and everything is fine. Back to 990a and works as well.

So there seems to be a difference how theese versions handle the calibration process.

Still haven't found the original 990a thread...

I thought I had stated it was only playable in 990.
990 a has memory leaks fixed

I noticed the smoother movement as well!
Too bad it didn't work for you. And very weird indeed.

Edit: isn't 990 supposed to be bad ass with primitives movement? Wonder why physmod5 outperforms it with the head movement.

P.s. where is mukuste anyway? Still lost in paris?
