hi i had problem to get VPX run smotlhy and tried many settings to get to run without lagg and stutter.

In the end i find a solution that worked for me and i want to share it here because it is a strange way to

to get it to work :) but i it runs nice and perfect for me.

try to change every table in VPX like you se in the pictures its easy to test if you have tried all other with no god results..

edit download the VPX beta 10.1 that solved this issues

The FPS Drop from 60 to 30 is a general 'feature' of the graphics driver - it happens when Vsync is on and the GPU has not enough power to render 60 fps, so it goes down one 'Vsync-Level' what means 30 fps.

With my Card (650 Ti Boost) I had the same issue. But I had 4xAA, after changing to Extreme FXAA stutters were gone. With latest 10.1 beta the perfomance improvements allow me to enable 4xAA again without stutter - when I disable reflect elemnts on playfield.

Currently building playing a low-cost cab: 39''/27''/15''

System: Intel Core i5-4570, Asus P8Z77-M, 8GB, EVGA GTX650 Ti Boost 1GB, Win10 Pro x64 , 3 screen setup

on MM.

but i should try the new beta now and se if i can get better results with 10.1 found it in the forum thanks :)

Hi everybody,

at the release notes of the latest nvidia drivers i found this:  [361.91] Stutter in DirectX 9 games when AA forced override is used. [1731438] fixed

On my cab i noticed the Stutter is almost gone. I have a Core5 with 3Mhz, a GTX770 on Win7.

..... So while I was refitting back my GTX480 I noticed that there was only 3gig of system RAM installed on the motherboard! I always thought this box had 4gigs. At some stage I must have removed one memory stick that may have been failing....not sure, but only 3 gigs were there. So I took a gig from my Mame box which has exactly the same RAM and quite frankly will run fine with just 3gigs anyway.....

32 bit OS does not cater for more than 3 - 4 GB ram .. no matter how much you install. Sometimes the limit is 3  because of the motherboard..

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

I'm running

win 7 64 bit

with an i7-5960x 3ghz

64 ram

GeForce gtx 980 ti.

so I figured this would be overkill for visual pinball. but I have two tables that tend to stutter  mainly when the flashers go off. medieval madness the vp10 dozer one and star trek 2013 both for vp10. the star trek one only stutters a little, not much. as far as the

video card setting I leave everything application controlled, or at least the items that can be.

going into the preferences the only things that seem to make a difference is setting post processing on standard instead of quality and of course the frame rate. what is it about the flashers that cause this to happen, when they go off even though the frame rate is supposed to be limited to 60 fps it jumps to 173 and still stutters on occasion.

also I've noticed some of the newer tables have a lot of weird looking shading Genesis and Flying carpet come to mind. this only happens when I say to update AO in game, but if this checked I have to turn down the AO on that game to get rid of it.

the shading actually moves around at a pretty fast rate, like a whole bunch of tiny black dots running all over the bottom of the pop bumpers or like in the flying carpet all over the instruction cards. I honestly haven't really noticed any good things when ticking that box.

Great first post, Maybe you need to do some reading(optimizing). On one of my old PCs VPX runs 99% of tables fine. 8 years old q6600 processor and a GTX 465.

Weis, some small Things and all run better ... you have to Change Option on Image 1 at every Table where you have Troubles, then save, Play.

If all is ok, try to go a step Forward at "Detail Level" stepwise, to get more Quality, until you get no Troubles again.

This are the Basics for Optimizations.
