My comment was deleted for helping someone out. That's too bad. Thankfully he got the link and was able to get the b2s he asked for.

Helping someone out is great. Posting links to banned websites, not so much.

I can understand banning content. But banning a website seems like a ridiculous amount of censorship to me. How are users supposed to know what is a banned website and what is not? Is there a list of banned websites in the rules somewhere?

The other site posts Sam tables and as it's against this sites rules, direct links there are removed. Gopinball used to be on the banned list for hacked exes but since they don't allow that anymore, they were put back on.

I don't disagree about your Sam POV, I don't see the harm in posting a link too. But this is a private site and if the site owner believes it's not good business to support discussions on Sam games, whatever, it's his site. This is no different than if someone where to post a link to Acdc at the other site, that site owner would remove the link because it wouldn't fall into HIS rules. For the record, I'm at that point where I don't believe that would be damaging either but his site, his rule, no big freaking deal.

What gets me right now it's this faked shocked indignation, as if Fren, you are really surprised that link was modded? That takes away from the very strong point that was made because anyone who's observant knows you are aware of the rules, so instead of a good point, I'm pretty sure many are seeing "pot stirred" and that lessons your point. I will straight out say though that if it's not in the rules, it's never a bad idea to clarify this so that on the post edit, the rule could be linked to. That's my take anyway.

There are always restrictions with any privately owned site. Personally as long as someone isn't banned for saying those three letters, I don't care if it's edited. You can just say "google visual pinball db2s royal rumble" and the dude/dudette will find what they are looking for.

Maybe it's my age, I'm now 50 years old. I care about virtual pinball and the community but I see no advantages in fighting old battles and I can see this one coming a mile away and I can see the result too. With any effort put forth for change, the idea is that change for the better is an achievable target. Is this the goal here? Like I said, it's a private site and I woke up this morning and the rules on all virtual pinball sites didn't prevent any member from enjoying this fine hobby.

Officer Loaf is here to right us all.

My "indignation", as it were, was that instead of editing my post and reasoning it for someone else, it was just removed... I want the point made that I pointed him in the direction of where to get what he wanted. He wasn't specifically asking for anything banned, and I wasn't linking to banned content, just telling him where it was. That's what bothers me, that there's stuff that's allowed on this website, that simply is not available here, and I can't even tell someone asking for help on a support topic for my table that HEY, I have your back, here's the b2s everyone is using.

Edit my post, let them know that I tried to help and that it's available elsewhere.

You can do whatever you want but is there a reason why only you can call out bullshit or are other members allowed too Fren? Should I assume that is your ideal forum? Fren's way is the only way?

Of course I should not assume that. I hope you do not presume that you as an author (an excellent one I might add) have more of a say than other members. The irony here Fren is that your take and mine are pretty much one and the same, the delivery is a little different is all ;)

And quit trying to police me, loafer, it's getting boring. I've had one discussion with Noah, as far as I know I do more good than bad, I help a TON of people here, I provide content, and I try to have fun. Sometimes I poke the beehive, but understand that if it weren't for VPF, I wouldn't even know about the other site(s), I wouldn't be creating the tables I create, or enjoying pinball as much as I do. And then you come along, and you tell me to stop voicing my opinion, even though you probably agree with it. I see you on the other site, I know where you stand, so don't act like you're a model of what VPF should be when you have nothing to do with the subject

You call it policing, I call it voicing my opinion. It's an Internet forum, you dish, you receive. You say cool things, you get praise. If you stir the pot, I WILL voice my opinion like you voice your opinion on something you see you don't agree with.

I apologize if you feel I was overbearing, I had good intentions with our previous conversations, trying to bring a different POV that maybe you had not considered, considering you may not be aware of some of the history. If it's not welcome, no problem. In no way have I indicted you have done more bad than good, so not sure where that comes. If it's meant as "I deserve some slack" well, so we both do.

Just so we're clear, I know i won't get your vote as member of the year but doesn't change my mind, I still think you are a great contributor :)

Easy, guys. The deletion wasn't appropriate, and I apologize. I used Tapatalk, and it hard deleted, instead of soft. By protocol, I edit the link.

As for what's allowed, links and references are filtered by the forum software, so there's no need have a list. There are ways around that, and Fren's post worked around it. I'm sure that wasn't the intent, of course.

The site filtered is banned for extremely valid reasons, including, but not limited to, shitting on everyone who has made our hobby possible. The admin there has even posted he thinks you'd all be better off if I were dead. I'm not promoting a site like that. End of story. I don't care to rehash. It's here and on other sites, if you want to read the history.

I don't care where you visit, who you're friends with, etc. Just keep it civil.

Thank you.

I remember one of my first posts was something along the lines of "this is a hobby that is powered by the most laid back bunch of dudes...but there's so much drama here and it doesn't make sense"

But I get it now

We're all insufferable in our own ways lol

Hi Fren, I realize the topic is quite old already, But i recently started playing the PM5 version alot. I really like it ! But i have just 1 problem. Each time after i lose the last ball during "Royal Rumble" mode, it does not register. So i have to use option "B" to add a ball to the trough to continue the game. Do you have any idea what could cause this ? Thanks in advance.

I think it's a ballid issue..I forget why we needed that though, fun script that's not needed in VPX, that's all I remember!

I can't promise I'll fix it but I'll look at it this week and post if I have a fix
