after installing this and the latest .dll all of my DMD's are now rotated and out of place. Is this a known issue? is there a fix?

Got the same problem as DreamTap, in new Medieval Madness and new Scared Stiff. I tried rolling back to VP build930 -> same behaviour: rectangular ball shadowing in some table areas

Setting "Region Update" = 0 and "Region Optimization" = 1 solved the ghosting problems with final VP 9.2.1 for those tables.

 Using Win7 x64, VP 9.9.1 & VP Physmod5 & VP10, unified PinMAME 2.23, PinballX 2.12, PinDMD V2 (Real DMD), I-PAC2 button controller, Ledwiz with DOF R2, Nanotech Plunger

i'm a little bit confused about the backglass sound output, i tried it on wooly, i wanted to move the music and voices to my main speakers but with the to bg out, it stayed on the secondary speakers, and this is apparently what it does, it should be the opposite, to be able to send sounds on the primary speakers instead, because the sounds from sound manager are already on the secondary speakers...?

I know we solved this privately and you got it working, but wanted to clarify this for anyone else who wants to try it.

VP 9.2.1 now supports separating music (and select table sounds, if desired) to different sound output device.  This feature is for folks who want the table sounds to emanate from inside the cab like a real pin.  It's an easy "free upgrade" for people who have playfield TV hooked up via HDMI.

With previous versions of VP you could almost get this right - you set the Windows default sound device to be your main speakers on the backglass  (so VPinMame played from that), then you could configure VP's sound device to be your TV.   This worked for the majority of ROM tables.    The problem, then, was music tables - the MP3 songs would play inside the cab.   There are also certain cases like LOTR where the ROM sounds were moved to the table sounds for performance reasons.   It was possible to do registry hacks, but then you'd lose the cab sound effects.

Now, with VP 9.2.1, you can go to the Audio Settings and define the main (Table sounds) sound device, as well as the "Backglass audio device".    The backglass device should be set to your main speakers (where you want music and ROM sounds to come from).    After setting this you must restart VP for the change to take effect.

If you want to move select table sounds to the backglass, you can do so in the sound manager.    Select the sound or group of sounds and click "To BG".   Save the table and re-open it, and the sounds should move to the backglass device.   The table has to be re-loaded, because the sounds are loaded into a particular device's buffer at load time.   I could improve the UI a bit here, but it was kind of a last minute addition to VP 9.2.1, and I didn't want to risk submitting something that wasn't stable.   :)

The updated file is a version compiled by me as it seems that some people were experiencing issues with Toxie's original version. It should be the same revision as the original upload with all the same features, just compiled from my setup with VS2008 in the hopes that it might be more compatible with everyone's system.

And it's now the final final DX7 version incl. one more minor fix by fuzzel (proper handling of "Display Image In Editor" flag for the flasher object)

I only wanted to say that I really appreciate this feature.

This is not only helpful for music tables and originals, it is also perfect for any EM.

I recommend leaving most sound effects to the cabinet speakers but some sound more realistic if they come from the backbox sound system. Those include:

- The reels of course. The sound effect is often named "reels.wav" or "fx_reels.wav" or "EM_reels" or something with "scoring"

- Reset/Initialization. While there is a lot of noise coming out of a EM's cabinet when it initializes the reset of the score reels is loudest. Look for anything "reset",  "initialization" or "startup"

- Add player is a good candidate too. Often named, well, "addplayer.wav"

- Some machines have a bell in the backbox. Central Park comes to mind.

I lucked out recently and got a Surf Champ so I can compare to the real thing, but it is a German model so it doesn't have a chime unit. Most German EM's don't have an chime unit because the German distributor didn't want them at the time.

So I really don't know if the chimes are supposed to come out of the backbox or out of the cabinet on an EM since I never played anything but German import models.

I'm guessing the chime unit belongs into the cabinet but it would be nice if anybody could confirm this.

Anyway, thanks again for adding this feature :)

If this is the same or similar to the Gottlieb table then there is a picture of the inside of the cabinet at ipdb.org.

The chime unit is in the front right side of the cabinet.

Cool find on that machine. Best of luck.

The "Paused" window is causing me aggravation when trying to close out of a game.   This is not a good idea when using an interface like PinballX.   For example, I ask VP to close down, I should not have to deal with another window requiring a mouse to close it when running from a pincab utilizing a menu manager like PinballX so how do I disable this "Paused" window so I don't have to deal with it?

You change the Pinballx "Exit Emulation" key to use 'e' instead of the ESC key

or

Check the "Disable ESC key" in the VP keys options

it should potentially become slower.. ;)

actually we forgot to move it to the correct place under "troubleshooting". you should only enable it if you experience issues, so far this is only the case on some intel (internal) gfx chips.

How disappointing that a new release version comes once again without keyboard nudging recoil. Maybe by VP12 DX18? Please by then.

No need for sarcasm. This is a compatibility release. Things are intentionally as close to 9.2.1 as possible.

It's not really sarcasm. It IS disappointing and I WILL hope throughout the next cycle that it is put back in. If not I will hope throughout the cycle after that.
